Actually, a higher frequency loss has a huge effect on speech. As someone else

mentioned, many consonants are higher frequency tones which is why a high

frequency loss is a challenge for kids who want to be oral. The /s/ sound is a

higher frequency sound as is /th/ /s/ is a really important sound - our slp

thinks it's the most important sound in the english language since it makes one

thing many, etc.
