Guest guest
Jerry: Ken was first diagnosed with Parkinson's and took Sinemet for over ten years with amazingly good results. Then he began to demonstrate other symptoms. Especially passing out when he went to the bathroom at night. His Neurologist at the time thought it was side effects of the medication, but after he passed out in the middle of the day and hit his head on a cement table, Shy-Drager became his new diagnosis. That was eight years ago last October. On hindsight, many of the symptoms we had been seeing for some time were probably more SDS than PD, but it is hard to say now. He is now completely dependent on us to do everything for him, but he still responds well to Sinemet and to Zoloft and to Aricept as well as Florinef and Midodrine. We continue to give him all these medications even though he is on Hospice because without them, he becomes completely rigid etc. They still seem to improve the quality of his life, but not very much. Guest guest
Jerry, Ken seems to be our longest surviing male. However, Anne in Australia has been diagnosed with SDS for 22 years and Harriet in Hawaii is up around 27 years. Are you still reading the list Harriet? Anne was given year or two to live at diagnoses back then. I'm not sure if Harriet has had the SDS diagnoses the whole time. Back when they were diagnosd it was not MSA. Take care, Bill and Charlotte
