Guest guest
the endo tested aldosterone when he worked up the adrenals, and although I haven't seen the results, he said they were " normal " but we all know that doesn't mean anything. I've been meaning to get copies and I will, I've just been too depressed and anxious to go out lately and have only been able to go if beau or someone else takes me. I believe I am definitely suffering from a severe case of SAD since this only started after time change and cold. I do have symptoms of low aldosterone, e.g. lightheaded upon standing, needing salt, and feeling very uncomfortable when standing in one place and having to stand up straight. I still feel uncomfortable even having to sit up straight and feel best when I keep moving or lay down. I'll get it and post the range and result. Ferritin was tested 3 weeks ago and was 80 so that's okay I guess. Are you saying that low aldosterone could cause this to happen when I take thyroid? I never knew that. Guest guest
Maybe you are allergic to it. I kept saying the same thing to my MD-- " It's like my body is rejecting the Armour " and i had been on it for 4 years w/o any problems. It turned out I was allergic to it and it always made me feel hyper. My heart would race. ...jin > > Today I decided to try taking thyroid hormone again. I have Thyrolar so I took 1/8 of a grain this morning. One half of a 1/4 grain tablet and it made me hyper again all day. It was so darn uncomfortable. I don't understand this since I'm on enough cortisol now. I know Val you said some woman here had to take 4 mgs. of medrol before she could tolerate thyroid, but a lousy 1/8 of a grain? I keep thinking if my body is rejecting this, maybe I am closer to the hyper side since my TSH always runs between .3 and .4 even though it's the stupid TSH. I cannot take thyroid and I don't think I need it or I imagine I could take a lousy 1/8 of a grain without going hyper. I took it at 8 a.m. and it's now 6:25 p.m. and I'm still hyper. Pulse has been steady around 90. > Yesterday it was 75-80 w/out thyroid. > > > >
Guest guest
, Pulse around 90 is not that bad. Often after a few days following a raise my pulse will settle down a bit lower. Any increase in thyroid hormones will increase our pulse. That is to be expected. I understand that if it does not go over 100 then we are OK. Guest guest
my temps run low. They average about 97.9-98.1 I know one thing; I'm not taking another 1/8 of a grain tomorrow and going thru this again. I can't stand the hyper feeling and I can't function like that. I never knew that.<< There is alot they do nto knwo abotu Aldosterone. It sdoes alot more than just regualr sodium and potassium. It also has glucocorticoid activity in the body and more for some people than others. When I took it at 1/2 tabs I brought my HC doen to 5MG and was fine. Then I got th efluid retentoin back and had to stop it. But for a week or so it felt wonderful. The fluid balancein my cody changed when I was on it, My skin changed drastically. My hair was even softer and nicer feeling. -- Artistic Grooming- Hurricane WV http://www.stopthethyroidmadness.com/ http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/NaturalThyroidHormonesADRENALS/
Guest guest
Well your temps are saying hypo, and given that you said you flunked your ACTH stim test and don't make any cortisol, it would seem you just need to increase your HC dose. You cannot possibly be hyper with those temps. And a TSH of .3 doesn't mean hyper anymore than a TSH of 1.4 means " normal. " I know several people on this list (my hubby included) who have a TSH > 1.0 but < 1.5 who are hypo symptomatically, and when you check their FT3 it's low. Do you have recent FT3 and FT4 labs too? And ferritin like Val asked? I read one doc who said that each organ needs a different level of thyroid to function optimally, with your brain #1, and something like your liver further down the list. His point was that the TSH is only the value of how much thyroid your pituitary needs. That organ alone. So the .3 means your pituitary is getting enough thyroid. But what about the rest of you? If there was something like a TSH for your brain, it would be much higher, cause you're showing hypo symptoms of depression, brain fog, etc. And the anxiety means you need more HC. Just more hypotheses for you to mull. Barb > > my temps run low. They average about 97.9-98.1 > I know one thing; I'm not taking another 1/8 of a grain tomorrow and going thru this again.
