Guest guest
YEP I agree. You are hovering. Take it fewer times and keep a record. Just keep an eye on him. You know him best and can see a change. But give him some breathing space. Just a word from Barb in Texas. Relax so he can. -- " The Lord's blessing is our greatest wealth; all our work adds nothing to it. Guest guest
It is best to take it at the same time each day. Those readings could be "normal" for a MSA patient as we don't know if he just ate, drank some water, had a pill, etc. All of those things can affect the BP. I take Charlotte's reclining BP in the morning immediately after she has her morning pills, then reclining and sitting about 15 minutes late when she gets her brief changed (and Sinemet is working). From one day to the next her BP still varies a lot - sitting can be anywhere from 132/80 to 100/60 BP is not a huge problem unless it falls lower than the values you mention. Anne Pledger often has a BP of 60/30 standing . All of this is just to get an idea of what "normal" readings are for him. Choose a time that you can take these readings every day. I would not take them every hour or less, none of those readings are super off a normal. You may want to raise the head of the bed some to lower the reclining BP. Take care, Bill and Charlotte bparrott2001@... wrote: Ken hasn't felt well the last week or so, as you know if you've read my posts. Bought a BP machine. Guest guest
Betty, Those readings don't alarm me. For example, Rob wasn't feeling well yesterday, so we did the UTI strip, temp, bp routine. His UTI strip was negative. His temp was 97.4. His blood pressure was 95/60 sitting and 65/48 standing (it had been 3 hours since his proamatine and about 1 hour after a meal). He was dizzy standing (no wonder!) so I gave him a glass of water and he drank the water and sat down to read a book. About an hour later he took his late afternoon meds, took a short nap, then went for an hour-long walk with our next door neighbor. We don't take Rob's blood pressure every day. In fact, we only take it if he's not feeling quite right. He is still quite mobile, and we both feel that fretting over the numbers just makes us both anxious. I'm not telling you not to take it -- just don't let it make you nuts! It will vary quite a bit, depending on activity, meals and medications. Actually, as a test, try taking your OWN blood pressure every couple of hours. That will give you an idea of how much variation you can get in a healthy person. It's a hard thing, but try to relax a little. The numbers are only one indication. How he feels is much more important.
