Guest guest
Bill, I hope I'm not too late for this reply to your query about after hospitalization. If I had known last August, what I know now, I would have had help standing by when we brought Warren home after a hip replacement and time in rehab. He wasn't really ready to come home when rehab said he was and I was worn out being at both hospital and rehab every day for many hours. It wasn't all their fault in sending him home sooner than expected as they didn't recognize that his inability to move easily was due more to MSA than the hip replacement. The visiting nurse and P/T didn't start for several days after he came home so weren't really of any assistance to us when we needed it most. The return from hospital with pnuemonia this time was considerably easier but I had help right away, as I had hired part time aide and she was available to help. My suggestion is that instead of waiting several days for the visiting nurse to visit, that they have a visiting nurse go home with the patient and help get things started off on an even keel, so to speak. She/he wouldn't have to stay long and then return next day to follow up on things. Hope this is of some help to you, S.
