Guest guest
When I had my DD1's six week check it was at the same time as my PN check. The doctor took some blood from me (as I was anaemic), asked if everything was OK, asked if the baby was OK and that was it!!!!! He would not have even known what sex she was - his glance at her was so fleeting. It was only when I was reading a baby mag and it kept saying things like " her eyesight/hips/heart problem was picked up at her 6 week check " that I started to worry. So I rang the surgery and insisted he checked my baby over properly!!! He was very unimpressed - needless to say I am no longer using him as my GP! I must say, speaking as a total and utter wimp, I am amazed that Hannah could give birth and everything without any medical help. You must be a very calm person! Like tho' I am intrigued as to why you have such a distrust of medics. I am a little cynical (my mum, a nurse, always said " Don't trust a doctor, they bury their mistakes " ) but would have been far too worried to give birth alone. Do tell!
