Thanks . Quite an interesting read. Just when it seems obvious the

LAA is a relic in the same category as the appendix, along comes some

plausible evidence not to jump to such a hasty conclusion.

Hi, I'm not sure what's going on Dave

I seem to have access to the

http://heart.bmjjournals.com

site without any login requirements.

the link

http://heart.bmjjournals.com/cgi/content/full/82/5/547

just takes me to the web page with the article on it.

Is anyone else having a similar problem accessing the page?

, thanks for that excellent article. Although I didn't

understand a lot of it this really stuck out and I'll be discussing

it with my cardio at my next visit:

" Obliteration or amputation of the LAA may help to reduce the risk of

thromboembolism, BUT this may result in undesirable physiological

sequelae such as reduced atrial compliance and a reduced capacity for

ANF secretion in response to pressure and volume overload. "

Amen to that. And it came not more then a few weeks after my Cardio

suggested putting a plug into mine so that I could come off the

Coumadin.
