Guest guest
Very interesting... My 2 1/2 year old daughter, who has Apraxia, auditory disfunction, and SID, is also lactose intolerant! I'm really interested to know if there may be some connection. -Beth
Guest guest
I don't know of any research however my son (who is apraxic) is lactose intolerant as well as his sister (typically developing but diagnosed with an immune dysfunction as an infant). In my opinion, food intolerance/allergies, immune problems and developmental disabilities all go hand in hand. Tricia Morin North Carolina Trish_J72 wrote: Hi Everyone, I'm new to the group. My 2 1/2 year old has been diagnosed with apraxia. We've recently changed SLPs and he's doing much better and talking more. I've also started him on a PRO Efa supplement regime. I was wondering, does anyone know or have done any research on the correlation between apraxic kids and food allergies, especially milk allergy. Any information would be greatly appreciated. Thanks....

Guest guest
Thanks for the enzyme book link. Very interesting. There is no doubt that many of our kids, autistic or not, have digestive issues. Books I have found to be applicable on this subject not just for kids w/autism but for anybody w/gross motor or sensory or apraxia or anything neurological, are: The Natural Medicine Guide to Autism by Marohn The Promise of Homeopathy by Amy L. Lansky And of course Children with Starving Brains by Jaquelyn McCandless They all touch on the underlying reasons for the food allergies/sensitivities we encounter and offer ways to remedy/mitigate them along with a number of other symptoms.
