Guest guest
I quit smoking Thanksgiving of 1976. I was going to be underground with a group of non-smokers and I didn't want to be going through withdrawal right then, so I actually " quit " sometime before. As it turned out, a freak thaw flooded the cave passage we had to go through, so the trip underground was abandoned. I had already quit smoking, I just didn't start up again like I had when I was in the Air Force and they gave you those & %$@# 5 min smoking breaks during basic. I just really hate sanctimonious former smokers. Sometimes I ask for the smoking section in restaurants, as it is often the " no kids " section too. I really, really hate small kids. More than I hate smoke. You don't want to hear what I think about baseball and golf. Galen Hekhuis NpD, JFR, GWA ghekhuis@... Guest guest
I started smoking and drinking coffee during those 5 min smoke breaks in basic training. Otherwise you were the person picking up those butts or having to do something else while everyone else was on break. I smoked until I retired from the Air Force and did not live close to a base and did not want to pay the price for them on the street. Mind you, I paid ..10 cents a pack overseas in 1967. On my retirement, a carton was 11 dollars on base. 5 years later I started smoking again and paid 27 dollars a carton off an Indian Reservation. Quit again September 02 and DX PLS November 02. Still have trouble wanting a cigarette, especially after eating. Watch others light a cigarette also gives me problems and find myself helping them light theirs. When a child, my parents owned a grocery store and a carton of regulars (camel or lucky strikes) sold for $185.00 and kings (with filters) sold for $195.00 Norton Re: SMOKING / not anymore!!
