Now you have to let the Doctor and his staff do their thing. Your part is to show up and follow their directions. You are in great hands with Dr. Wharton. When I had my PVA, there was no major discomfort. After they give you the " Happy Juice " prior to being taken to the EP Lab, you won't care what they do. Give me some more juice! mmmmm... Everything will be fine. Prepare for your recovery. Things will be different. You may still have AF bouts until your heart heals and remodels itself. This could be as short as a few days of a few months. Or you could be completely cured as well. You'll have to wait and see. Keep the faith. I'll say a prayer for a safe and successful PVA for you. But I do know how highly Dr. Wharton is thought of in these parts, both as a professional and as a caring and attentive person. Anne, you are in very good hands with Dr. Wharton. You are in the hands of an expert - and to add icing to the cake - he is a beautiful person! I miss him dearly! He was with me the greater part of the year 2000 and actually suggested and started me on Dofetilide. Very strange to be so miserable and so sick for so long - and now I can honestly say except for this Board, I don't give Afib a thought. I wish you the best of all Christmas presents - wrapped big and beautiful --- *NSR*! I may be wrong, but I think we only have one other member (Sandy) who is from the Duke area.......and I know Sandy was not under the care of Dr. Wharton. My only doubt about Dr. Wharton, is that the entire afib group seems to talk about Dr. Natale at Cleveland and I don't see much posted about JMW. My intake exam was fine although he showed up a 11am for an 8am appt. His nurses told me he was not in surgery that day and they were waiting for him to come in from home. So although I really liked him once I met him, he was starting from a disadvantage. I must also have a TEE because of the mild stroke I had. The whole thing is giving me the willies. One of my personal horrors is the lovenox. I had to use it prior to going on Tikosyn and just hated the whole experience. I am really a baby! On another note, since I bought a new computer, I cannot seem to use this site so easily. I did do away with the email, but each time I click on a post I wish to read, I am taken to a yahoo site that tells me that this is an advertising site and that I have to click to continue.
