I've even told them that I have 's disease. Of course I have it

prescribed so when they see the bottle they just believe me. Now I just say

adrenal insufficiency and wear a bracelet that states so.

usually?

I wonder, just in case one day need hospital for some reason and need

to tell them that I am on 35mg HC ---- are s treated/maintained

with 20-40mg HC as well? If so, I can make a white " lie " and say " I

have adrenal insufficiency from prolonged corticosteroid use in the

past period. Steroids thank you! " .

I think it depends on their doctor but i am sure SOME replace ad4equately!

I joined an s group on Yahoo just to learn about what they are

doing. Most were on 15-20mg of Cortef. I did not see even one person

on more then 20mg.

That seems very low for s. Are they improving in their symptoms on

that dosage? Cheri

Those people who are on 15-20mg of Cortef probably do NOT actually

have 's -- and don't know the difference between 's

and Adrenal Fatigue. I looked at that group a few days ago, and it's

almost dead -- FULL of spam, and no recent messages about 's.

Thanks for your post Bill. I laughed out loud! I wondered how

someone with 's could possibly function on 15 mg Cortef. And

I thank Val that this is a REAL group, with REAL people contributing

their experiences so that we can all learn.

Were any of them also taking any thyroid meds, or Florinef? That seems

incredibly low dose for 's. Not that I know anything about it,

but just with my AF, I'm at 25, and will perhaps need to go a bit higher

as I raise my T3 dose. I've tried 27.5 mg, but went back to 25.

I unsubscribed yesterday so I do not know if we are talking about the

same group. The one that I was on did not have ANY spam & there were

around 20 messages each day in the digest. I read some of their

stories about being diagianosed, at least a few truly do have addisons.

I have read this before but I have also read it si SO hard to track there IS no

way to know how much cortisl a person needs every day as it varies with person

to person and their metaboilism nd what they are doing stresses etc. From what I

have learned of AF I do not believ e this is possible unless oyu are laying in

bed all day with NO stress.

There was an interesting post either or this board or the natural

thyroid hormones board a while back relating how a person with

's disease dosed and how much they used.

It was small doses throughout the day in response to certain

symptomatic triggers, rather than a set dosing schedule. They had a lot

of success with that and were able to decrease how much they used in

total by dosing this way.
