Guest guest
>>I just got the following blood work back: TSH, 3RD GENERATION 0.07 range 0.40-4.50 Free T4 0.9 range 0.8-1.8 Free T3 268 range 230-420 My temps are stable and at 98.6. I would like to start weaning off the HC, because I am forgetting to take it (I don't get the shakes when it's time for my next dose like I used to. I feel better than I have in years, but still somewhat hypo. My skin is still dry, and energy not good. What do you think of my T3 and T4? Do I concentrate on them and ignore the TSH? I am on 2 grains of Armour. Do you think I should raise the Armour before weaning off the HC? What about taking T3 only? Would that help? Thank you. It si strange that your temps are 98.6 though. But with ANY hyo symptms I would forget the temps and push it to the max wiht thyroid and if it doesn;t improve and temps go high then RT3 shoudl be suspected. If you can get it tested but if not it would not hurt to do a trial of T3 only for 3-4 momnths . -- Artistic Grooming- Hurricane WV http://www.stopthethyroidmadness.com/ http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/NaturalThyroidHormonesADRENALS/

But you're at 98.6? Your case is relevant to me because my FT3 is 304 at 1.75 grains Armour, yet my temps sometimes go above 98.6--on days when I don't take enough sea salt. I've only got a few hypo symptoms left--need more eyebrows and hair, and warmer feet. The cold hands went away when I increased from 1.5 to 1.75. I've been taking more sea salt and upped to 1.87 grain since I'm having such a hard time with the final raises. Do you have recent sodium and potassium lab values? What supplements do you take? Guest guest
Hi Barb, Not a typo - if you look, it is in the range. I take fish oil, CO-Q10, mega B and C, extra B12, zinc, milk thistle, tyrosine and magnesium taurate. Sodium 140 range 135-146 potassium 4.2 range 3.5-5.3 I am going to get a new thermometer and a reverse T3 test. I feel warmer than I have in years! What are you thinking? is your TSH low? How is your T4? --------------------------------- Never miss a thing. Make Yahoo your homepage.
Guest guest
> > Not a typo - if you look, it is in the range. Yes, I know, but MOST people don't hit 98.6 or get close to that till they're over 300 in FT3 and you're still in the 200s! So it seems there is something different about your metabolism (and mine) that we get to those temps on low doses. That's what I'm trying to figure out. I feel like I'm so close to optimizing, but missing one little puzzle piece I can't figure out. > > I take fish oil, CO-Q10, mega B and C, extra B12, zinc, milk thistle, tyrosine and magnesium taurate. > > Sodium 140 range 135-146 > potassium 4.2 range 3.5-5.3 I am taking similar and more supplements, and my sodium and potassium were worse. Val would want your sodium higher. Do you take sea salt? > > I am going to get a new thermometer and a reverse T3 test. Good idea! > > Is your TSH low? Guest guest
Barb, Some of us do not have the low temps that others have. Mine never were under 98.2. ANY thyroid hormone raises mine to 98.6 & I have been as high as 7,1/2 gr of Armour & my temps never got higher then 98.6. I still was not optimal even at that high dose. Guest guest
Val would want your sodium higher. Do you take sea salt? I take Real Salt - should I be at the top of the range? I also take Chromium GTF. I started reading something on Dr. Rind's website about interpreting thyroid results. I am going to increase Armour to 3 grains (1/4 at a time)and see where my temps are then. I got a mew thermometer and the new one said 97.8 at the same time the old one said 99.1. I am sleeping so well now, after not sleeping for so long! It makes such a difference - can it possibly get better?
Guest guest
Sounds like your case is solved. You just had a faulty thermometer, so you're free to continue raising and your hypo symptoms should decrease as your dose increases. YAY! Barb > > > Val would want your sodium higher. Guest guest
Barb, According to Dr. Rind's Thyroid Scale webpage on Interpreting Results, your results indicate the following: " If the T4 is in the low (but still `normal') range and the T3 is to the right of it in the low but normal range, it means that the T4 is converting to T3 at a high rate (more T3, less RT3). This is typically found when the thyroid gland is unable to keep up T4 production to meet the body's needs. The body can compensate by increasing conversion of T4 to more T3. We see this in hypothyroidism. " I don't understand what it means or what you need to do Do you know what he means? I hope this helps. Guest guest
, thanks for this info; I think it explains my situation. I myself had just been going through my old labs yesterday, seeing if I could see a pattern. I have a lab from 2005 where my FT3 was 349, FT4 was .9 and TSH was .09. That was on 1.75 grain Armour and the last time I felt good. So I think Dr. Rind's info is right--I'm just a good converter, which is why a lower dose works for me. Trying to get my T3 higher will only make me hyper. Most here have conversion problems, but of course, my whole life, I've not been like everyone else. Always the odd man out that thinks WAY outside the box. I recently increased my 1.75 grain by 1/8, but don't feel well, like BP and temps up. Couldn't understand it so dropping back down. And will stop the ashwagandha, since again, while great for most, it doesn't agree with me. I also think it lowers TSH, and docs hate that my TSH is already low. Maybe after stopping that, I might be able to raise to 2 grains. Like everyone else here, it's just trial and error till you find what works. Thanks for posting this , it DID help!
