(()) I'm really sorry for all that you are having to go through. You and your family will be in my prayers. Have you talked with Darla about the vasculitis?? She could prob. be of some help to you since Asenath has that too. Hang in there,

I am so so very sorry to hear that yet more is being dished upon your

plate. Here is a link I found on vasculitis.

http://vasculitis.med.jhu.edu/

Simply, it is inflimation of blood vessels. From what I read and what

my father went through for a dx, an MRI might only indicate. See below:

How do we

Diagnose Vasculitis?

Patients

with vasculitis learn that making the diagnosis is sometimes quite

difficult. Many endure numerous doctors’ visits, tests, and

hospitalizations before the pieces of the puzzle are assembled. The

diagnosis of vasculitis usually requires a biopsy of an involved organ

to secure a "tissue diagnosis". The two reasons for this are:

# ONE:

Vasculitis has many MIMICKERS (other diseases that have similar

features but require different treatments).

# TWO:

The treatments for vasculitis itself involve substantial risk. No

physician should prescribe such treatment without making every effort

to secure a firm diagnosis.

Blood

tests, X–rays, and other studies may suggest the diagnosis of

vasculitis, but often the only way to clinch the diagnosis is to biopsy

an involved tissue, examine the tissue under the microscope in

consultation with a pathologist (ideally one experienced at examining

biopsies in vasculitis), and find the pathologic hallmarks of the

disease. The trick to diagnosing vasculitis is to figure out the least

invasive method of accomplishing this task. If a patient’s symptoms,

physical examination, and diagnostic testing suggest involvement of a

particular organ, one of the procedures below may be used to confirm

(or exclude) the diagnosis of vasculitis:

I would think your husband's surgeron needs to know about the loss in

bowel and bladder function. He may be doing himself more damage. Can

you at least call the doctor on his behalf?

As for you, how are YOU doing besides going crazy worring about your

family? You have to worry about you too.

Hugs,

Well I got a call yesterday from my sons Neuro. Remember he

was in hospital about 3 weeks ago. He lost his eye sight and motor

skills again. The neuro asked me for all his old MRI/MRA films and took

more films.

He called and said that my son has vasculitis. UGH....

I swear I am abaout at my end..

My husband is not recovering or getting better after his back surgery,

he actually is getting worse. He is loosing control of bowel and

bladder and cant walk well...he refuses any help and wont use his

wheelchair...

sorry to vent but I am at the end of my rope....

thanks

I'm so sorry. I wish I had some magic words for you but there are none. You have had a horrible year and it looks as if the news just keeps getting worse for you. Hopefully, 2004 will turn things around.

Can you talk to someone who is close to your husband who might have some influence on his thinking? It sounds as if he is dealing with pride. It has to be so tough. What does his doctor say about these problems?

Hugs!

Please hang in there. We are all praying for you.

What do they plan to do to treat your son for this? Does he have

another appointment with the neuro?

(If you haven't already, you need to call your husband's doctor and

let them know how he's doing.) I hope you have someone close by to

help you with some of these issues (physically and emotionally).

You're a very strong person and I know you have the strength to to

get you through this, but please lean on someone once and a while

when you need to.

Hugs,

Maggie

My heart and thoughts go out to you. I just want to wrap my arms around you.

Others have made good suggestions and I know you are very strong. My dad has

done well with his vasculitis, not even staying on the steroids like he was

told to do.

Hugs to you all,

laurie

Dear ,

I hope you get some good news--SOON. I hope you can get your husband to

the doctor as soon as possible. It certainly sounds as if somethng went

awry in the surgery. I do not think that most men make very good

patients. As you well know, the women in their lives must be in charge

of the medical arena.

I hope the docs can help your son's vasculitis.

Amidst all this, please try to take care of yourself, too.

You are in our thoughts and prayers.

Sincerely,
