Gaylene,

I have had some success with the b-12 sublinguil pills myself. My b-12 test

was down to 251 at one blood test, so my surgeon told me to start taking

b-12 every day. I use the dots from vitalady. After six months, my level

was up to 410. I am hoping it will keep going up and stay there. After I

get done being pregnant, I will have to get tested again and see how it is

going, but so far so good.

By the way, I had RnY with 150cm bypassed.

LInda,

I give my shots either in the hip or the thigh, I don't know about the stomach

but the leg is easily accessible. The arm would be harder and these little

buggers hurt once the B12 is in there (the shot itself is painless) and I'd much

rather have my leg ache than my arm!

I don't have access to my syringes right now to tell you what guage they are but

they are a pretty tiny needle. I don't feel a thing when I give myself the shot.

I'll try to e-mail you back privately when I find out what type they are. I

give myself 2cc once a month.

Hope this helps!

Have your doc write a prescription for insulin syringes. They work great

for B12 shots, and hold the 1cc we need (although it says 100units on an

insulin syringe). You can buy a box at the pharmacy with the Rx. The only

drawback is that they come a large lot size as diabetics need to use them

much more often than once a month, but they don't expire like a med dose.

My pharmacy lets me buy 20 at a time. They sell them from the big box. I

think it is like 3 or 4 dollars... Jan C. 3-11-98 RNY

Greetings Friends:

Hope you are all well. Lately I have been seeing a lot of talk here about

b-12. Thought I would chime in; I know I addressed it in some FAQ's in

bariworld but it was a bit long winded. I have been giving myself b-12

injections for the better part of the past 2 years now. My levels are

terrific, it is convenient and inexpensive. Mind you, not everyone is in

that mind set. I use a 1ml 25G 5/8 syringe. I believe this is an insulin

syringe. I administer it in my upper thigh area; it is pretty much all

muscle there. It is painless, the only difficult part at times is totally in

my mind. I would not be able to use a larger needle on myself; no guts for

that sucker. Again, this method is probably not for everyone but has worked

out great for me. Oh, I buy the syringes 50 - 100 at a time and get Rx for

b-12 from my internist. A vial, which is about 15 1 cc dosages is between 7

- 10 dollars. the syringes are between 20 and 25 cents each.

Hope this helps some of you.

I paid .35 each for the 23 gauge I bought at Wal-Mart yesterday. Huge, but very

doable

Just got blood test results... fully expected to find B-12 levels low

because I rarely have shots, & the last one was more than nine months ago.

The results show that my B-12 is greater than 2000... reading stops there,

so don't know how far over I am. I do take lots of balanced B vites daily,

and I take the b-12 sublingual, about 1or 2 per day... I am motivated to do

this because when I don't, my lower lip cracks, swells up, gets sore. If I

miss 2 days of my total B regimen, my lower lip gives me trouble. So, my

experience doesn't seem to agree with the experiences shared on this list,

and who knows why. I do have the concern that the b's I take are masking

something else going on. By the by, my personal experience resulted in

noticeably better reactions from TwinLab supps than the many other brands

I've tried.
