Guest guest
I want to second what Tricia says 100%!!! I also want to add one thing: I have been reading lately that, although Kirkman's multivitamins are terrific (and their site has all kinds of great supplements in general), many kids can't tolerate the multis and get really hyper and have other issues on them. I have read this can be due to the high level of B vitamins in the supps or to any phenol intolerance the child has (and not all of us would know our child has a phenol intolerance). Anecdotally, I am hearing that people are having great success with the Brainchild Nutritionals ones. They are expensive like the Kirkmans but you can purchase little samples to see if your child tolerates them before you shell out the full cash. I bought the samples several weeks ago but wanted to settle something else out before I started trying them, so I can't tell you whether they are working for us - but I can say that they are very very helpful on email and by phone and (like so many of these products) were developed by parents whose children had problems they couldn't solve w/any known product! www.brainchildnutritionals.com <http://www.brainchildnutritionals.com/> Good luck! I honestly feel that if our bodies get the right kind of fuel, their output is much better. Determining what the right kind of fuel for a unique individual is no easy task! Something that helped my son diversify his palate was adding digestive enzymes. For anyone considering the enzyme route, I always tell them to read this books first: " Enzymes for Autism and Other Neurological Conditions " http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/0972591877/speechvilleex-20/10 2-7545500-4884964 It is such a great overview of enzymes and who is a candidate. Many parents on this list have found this book useful: " Children with Starving Brains " http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/1883647096/speechvilleex-20/103-56364 52-6672639?dev-t=D2EZ6W27JQ909K If you are just looking for a multi-vitamin, I have heard that the ones that Kirkman's sells are great: http://www.kirkmanlabs.com/products/multivitamins/multivitamins_index.html I have been meaning to switch my son to Kirkmans but haven't followed through. (Note to self: order new multi-vitamin from Kirkman because the one from Animal Parade that I have been giving my kids for the last year is useless...LOL) Tricia Morin North Carolina
Guest guest
I have only heard about problems with super nuthera from Kirkman's. My son cannot tolerate super nuthera, but we use other Kirkman supplements with no problems at all. Brainchild is very expensive, much more expensive than Kirkman's! > > I think that diet plays more of a part in apraxia, sensory issues, > attention, learning, etc than most people think. Guest guest
Tricia you mention that the Animal Parade vits are " useless " . Can you explain why? I am probably behind on the topic (as usual!) but want to understand. I use Kal Multi-Saurus vits and minerals for Nick. They are a health food store buy without sugar, dyes and all the other no-no's. When we weren't a single income family I bought expensive Re-live or Shaklee products but now money really is an issue. I would also like to start him on enzymes (waiting on the book order so I need to budget for those. In other words how does a person determine if a multi is good without just believing what one company says? Thanks!
