Well just from what it did for me, the warm water therapy is fantastic. I

cannot walk unaided and must use a walker around the house or lean on

counters in the kitchen. Here is how I see it.

I want warm water but not too hot, hot water would relax the muscles and I'm

sure feel good (I was living on my hot water bottle for weeks...) but it

would relax me to the point that I couldn't exercise and also exhaust me

(heat does that to me). Second, having the one on one with the PT guy in

the water is great. He watches my whole body, comes over and pushes my back

straight or moves my arms to a different position and of course as soon as

my legs spasm, he starts working on them. Finally the thing I really like

about the water is I don't have to worry about balance. Walking around the

house I am constantly having to concentrate on balance. In the water I just

hang onto the side and move, I can easily keep my body balanced with my

hands and so can concentrate on moving the legs correctly.

Right now I am very happy with it and would recommend it to anyone but

especially if your stiff/spastic.

hope this answers your questions.

Dale,

I know that you are holding onto the pools edge and you do not have to

worry about your balance. Let me ask, is your balance better in the

water because you are more buoyant or you are secure due to the pools

edge and don't have to thing about balance?

You are correct about hot water. I have to sleep for about an hour

after taking a bath.

I like your water therapy and I'm beginning to think I need to do the

same.

Have a great weekend.

I would have to say both. I won't walk around the pool unless I can hang on

to the side but if I would fall it's much slower! Let's put it this way, if

I tried to do this at home, put my hands on our chest high countertop and

tried to do this I would be having to spend a lot of concentration and

muscle on balance. Especially being that my left leg is so much worse, my

arms would be really fighting to hold me up. In the pool, I just lay my

arms one the side and don't even have to hold on that much, the water keeps

me upright fairly well.

Is that understandable?
