Hi Sandy. I saw your post and wondered how long it took you to regain.

Then to all DSers. I read the Dr. Hess 10 year study on DS from '88 to '98.

My biggest concern is not the surgery, the money (self-pay), or how much I'll

loose. I know their are no guarantees. What do you all know about possible

re-gain. I don't see any updated posts from anyone over 2 1/2 years out. I

worry that that means they gained weight and don't want people to know. Is

anyone in touch with a DSer that is five years or more post op?

Hi Sandy. I saw your post and wondered how long it took you to regain.

Hi ~

I was pretty much OK for about 18 months. Then it SLOWLY started to happen. My intake amount is still very small, but I have learned to eat things that someone "dieting" should not eat. I love a bowl of creamed soup, I love mashed potatoes with gravy. These things have worked very well for me because I CANNOT eat meat. If I even eat a few bites more than an ounce of beef, I throw up. Same with lamb, pork. Chicken was ALWAYS problematic for me, but lately if I have a VERY juicy chicken thigh, I can eat half of it! Go figure. the bottom line is that because of the difficulty eating protein, I have become a carb and sweet junkie. Hence, the weight gain. I fantasize about the day I will be able to eat a small piece of delicious steak or a small chop or two from a rack of lamb. I was never a junk-food junkie before the VBG and hope to return to a more well-rounded!

(no pun intended) eater like I was pre-VBG. This is why I believe the BPD/DS is the right solution for me!
