Hi all,

I'm hoping those of you with UC can help me understand what's happening

to me. I've been on SCD since July '07 and completely off meds since

July '08. I have followed strict SCD except that in November, I started

eating slow-fermented sourdough bread, which I know is not SCD legal,

but it seemed possible that I might be able to tolerate it. I have eaten

it at the rate of about one loaf per month since with no symptoms.

In the last couple of months, I have relaxed my fanaticism a bit and ate

about 2T of brown rice a month ago; about 1/2 c. of some cream butternut

soup in a restaurant about 2 weeks ago; had surgery and took some Advil

and 3 Tylenol with codeine tablets ... in a nutshell - I've ingested

several amounts of illegals but nothing major in addition to the bread

over the past month.

About 2 weeks ago, I had a trace of blood and some mucus. Early this

week, I had another trace of blood but no mucus, and since then I am

seeing small traces of blood each morning. My stools are still totally

fine and I am only having one BM per day with no urgency, bloating or

other symptoms.

I am back to 100% fanatical, eliminating advanced foods (not quite back

to intro) and am hoping this will clear things up.

But - I'm wondering if others with UC have had this happen where blood

is the only symptom. Is this the beginning of a flare? I didn't ever

really have what I would call flares prior to SCD - just very loose

stools. Loose stools were also the symptom I got when I went into new

foods too fast when starting the diet, but I haven't had that at all.

Does anyone have any ideas or thoughts?

Kathy
