Guest guest
Hi, I want to take a supplement that has 125mg Caffeine in it along with other ingredients. I'd probably take 2 caps a day (250mg). Is this pretty bad? I normally drink a cup of tea in the AM and PM but I'd cut this out if it was OK to take my supplement. I normally don't drink pop so other than tea it's the only thing I take that has caffeine in it. Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks, Cheryl

Guest guest
So if I don't feel shaky it's OK to take and I'm not causing damage to the adrenals? I never feel jittery when I have caffeine but I'm not someone that takes alot of it. Cheryl > > I honestly can;t say how much i too much. It depends on your system. Guest guest
Just Amy's opinion, not gospel: I had to quit caffeine altogether. Caffeine is a stimulant, and it stimulates all the systems in the body. If you're diabetic, it causes independent rises in your blood sugar; it will also raise blood pressure because it's a stimulant. Most folks see it as benign, but it can stress out or even kill off your adrenals because you basically horsewhip them if you intake enough--and like any stimulant, over time you need more to get the same effect. How do I know? Oh, I LOVE coffee, and drank LOTS of it in the 90's, especially when I was working full time and going to college at night. Now I have to stick with unleaded. The real stuff irritates my stomach, too. Just a thought. Anyone else? Amy
Guest guest
Yes, since I was hyperthyroid and have high cortisol, I am afraid to drink the two cups of Swiss Mocha any more. My huaband observed today " you haven't drunk a cup of coffee for about a year, have you? Some iced tea, but not much. I avoid anything that would contribute to anxiety. Guest guest
Hi Amy, Isn't decaf just as bad? Or, worse? Unless something has changed about it, at one time it had ingredients in it that were not good for our system. That said, I think coffee is also not a great thing to have, but one cup? I don't have sodas, and I do like my one cup o'joe in the morning. >>>Most folks see it as benign, but it can stress out or even kill off your adrenals because you basically horsewhip them if you intake enough--and like any stimulant, over time you need more to get the same effect. Recently, I tried some again, 1/4 full caff coffee to 3/4 decaf. I couldn't tolerate it. Made me very shaky, extremely nervous, etc. And once several months ago, I accidentally got a full caff breve instead of a decaf, and it nearly blew the top of my head off. I shook so bad I could barely drive home. Because of the huge amount of caffeine it took to get me revved up enough to function in years past, I guess I thought I wasn't very sensitive to it. But now, I think that was just the adrenal insufficiency showing (I'm stage 7). Probably I was so used to it that I thought all that shaking, especially the internal shaking was normal. Not. FWIW, I only weaned off caffeine because I thought it would help my insomnia, but it didn't help at all with sleep. sol

But, for me personally, my diet is so damn limited with all my allergies and senstivities, I cannot face giving up my morning coffee, or the occasional cup of decaf tea (in spite of the fluoride in tea). I'm down the the very last few pleasures in food and drink, and I'm just not at all ready to give them up. I think there is a limit to how barren we can make our lives and still feel like living is worth it. Not that I would rather die than give up my coffee, but I cherish and cling to the last few things I can eat/drink more or less safely. sol
Guest guest
Hi Sol. All my life I didn't drink coffee. For the past few months, I've been having one large cup a day of JavaSoy. I know it's not good for me, but until it runs out, I'm enjoying it for the first time in my life. I do have teo cups of green tea a day. Guest guest
it can stress out or even kill off your adrenals > because you basically horsewhip them if you intake enough-- I am pretty sure that my 6 to 8 Cokes a day habit that started in college and continued for several years played a big part in destroying my adrenals. There were certainly many other factors as well. English
Guest guest
I drank coffee like crazy trying to cope with declining energy levels and increasing job and home demands. I'm sure it played a role in depleting my adrenals but also in leeching vits and minerals from my body. > > it can stress out or even kill off your adrenals > > because you basically horsewhip them if you intake enough-- > > I am pretty sure that my 6 to 8 Cokes a day habit that started in > college and continued for several years played a big part in destroying > my adrenals. Guest guest
Dr. agrees with you in Adrenal Fatigue: The 21st Century Stress Syndrome. He says coffee is a big no, no. Makes adrenal issues much worse. Of course, chocolate doesn't help either and I can't seem to give that one up totally. Cheri Re:Caffeine..... how much is too much? Guest guest
If you need a morning jolt (which means you need adrenal help anyway) try licorice tea. It actually is good for your adrenals and seems to perk you up like coffee does. > > Dr. agrees with you in Adrenal Fatigue: The 21st Century Stress > Syndrome. He says coffee is a big no, no.
