Guest guest
Hi My name's Siti and I'm the mother of a 2 1/2 month old baby boy (born 18/12/2003)with a right club foot, who has undergone repeated casting since he was 2 days old. However, last week after going for an x-ray, our orthopaedic surgeon has informed us that our son will need to go for a tendon release operation although his foor position has improved (this is because his heel has not come down etc). The op will be around end April/early May (when he's about 4+ month old). From now till the operation, our son's foot will not be casted anymore. Our doctor only said to massage it everyday but didn't really show us how. But if the foot starts to club again i.e. relapse, our doctor said to come and see him and he will recast it till the op. We are actually from Singapore (in Southeast Asia) and do not have as many options with regards to the doctors and treatment available (compared to the U.S.). We have heard about this Ponsetti method and wonder whether it would be applicable for our son. Pls help to advise us as we are worried that we may not be opting for the best treatment option for our son and fear for his future development.
