Guest guest
This is my fifth day on the intro diet and I believe I have been following it very close. The only mistakes I may have made are that the past two days I have used a little olive oil to grease the pan I cook my eggs in and also on some of the meat I have grilled. I also used some herbs (herbs de providence) on the pork I made yesterday. I hope that was acceptable. I was diagnosed with Crohn's Disease about a year ago. It has also been suggested that I have Crohn's Colitis. I think this is because of my continual blood loss and that I do not have diarrhea frequently. Although, all stools are " loose " and there is quite a lot of blood present. The only medication I have been on is four Lialda a day. I never thought I would be discussing this a year ago...life is interesting. My questions are concerning the introduction of other legal foods. I increased my intake of homemade goat yogurt today and I did experience some diarrhea, which was a little worrying. I am really looking forward to introducing some cooked fruit, vegetables and nut bread. I think I am going to have some steamed green beans with my meat for dinner tonight. I will probably stick to green beans for the next few days and then maybe add another vegetable suggested on the pecan bread site for stage one. How long should I wait on the nut bread? How do you cook fruit? How do you peel small fruit like blueberries, blackberries, cherries, dates, strawberries, etc? Any advice on the use of spices and herbs? I would really like to add some flavor to my meat. I am so used to using spice mixes but I know that is no longer possible. I have read that we can use spices, just not mixes, but I am still a little hesitant after I read that store bought garlic powder is unacceptable because starch is used to keep it separated. Does that mean that all powders are " illegal " ? If someone could provide me with a list of acceptable spices and herbs I would really appreciate it!!! This is my first post and I apologize for its length. I have been really excited since I found the SCD and I am happy to have been given some hope. Let me know how you think I have been doing following the diet so far and if you can answer any of the questions I have asked I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks in advance for your support!
