Guest guest
Sharon and group - The comments below made by Sharon have filled me with deep thoughts about our group. I, myself, whether I have ever made a comment in haste or not, am dedicated to reviewing any and all messages before I email them to the group. It is so easy to say something out of caring and concern, yet have it some out very differently to the reader. I never, ever want to say something that would cause anyone here any added pain. "Concern" "from my experience" ... are good words to use when one is concerned about the medication schedules another member (or their child, etc.) is taking. I am dedicated to choosing my words carefully. I am not saying this as a challenge or rule or anything other than love and caring. Barbara <<< . I have myself struggled with all of the questions and comments that friends/family/medical people share with me. I should/shouldn't be doing this or that... >>>
Guest guest
Sharon, Thank you I think. I will say this much. It should be made very clear that Magi is not to my knowledge a medical professional nor has she ever met my little girl, therefore such a very hurtful opinion is much better left unsaid. I am curious if she felt saying it was worth the crying I have done today. I could not even hold myself together during Alena's doctor appointment. I am sure of all the MANY doctors Alena has been through if such a thing was even remotely possible (WHICH IT IS NOT) they would have picked up on it. ~Alena's Mom Re: To > I'm afraid I've been busy lately and unable to keep up with all of the > messages. Guest guest
Hi , My name is Joan and I have had hives for 2.5 years now. My allergist seems to be the only one who really understand about my CU. My primary doctor's interest (and he is a really good doc for other stuff) is what medications I am taking and are they working. If I am okay with the CU, he prefers to leave it alone. I think a lot of docs really don't understand hives and much prefer to avoid dealing with them. I guess they can't be experts on everything. Guest guest
Dear Great to hear from someone in Aberdeen, I studied there for four years from 1992-96 but I am now in London. I had the same experience with my doctors. They told me to stop using smelly stuff. I told him that it made no difference at all, it didn't matter what stuff I used I still had the rash. I told him that I felt like it was something inside that was causing it not outside. He didn't believe me. I insisted on being sent to a dermatologist, only five month wait, where he diagnosed urticaria without much inspection of my skin. This is also usual as it seems to be actually quite easy to diagnose generally but not necessarily a specific type or cause. You may be allergic to some food groups, but it could be a whole host of other things, have you had any dental work recently, have you had any infections or other illnesses, could be anything really. You should have had some blood tests taken to check your immune sytem as urticaria can often be associated with auto-immune disorders. Basically your immune system is working too hard and is making antihistamine which makes you allergic and brings out this rash. In simple terms, that I can understand, you are allergic to yourself. As to why you got better in Spain, were you by the seaside. My hives always disappear when I am next to the sea. I think environmental factors do make a difference, and in Spain the wind is onshore. Living in Aberdeen, I seem to remember the wind was often blowing towards the sea rather than onto Aberdeen. Except during the really big storms. Anyway just some thoughts. Hope you find an antihistamine that helps, you often have to take slightly higher doses that normal, two tablets instead of one I have to take two claritin which keeps mine at bay. Zirtec is another favourtie, piriton makes me really sleepy so I can't take that, but if it works for you. Anyway hope this helps Shona = =
Guest guest
Hi Shona, Thanks for your e-mail which is very helpful. This dental thing has come up twice now. I had major dental work done round about the start of the problem. No amalgam fillings were touched but it seems like a 'hot lead'! (I've been told to become a detective;-). Intertesting point about the sea also....not sure which way the wind blows, but it's always blowing up here as you know!. Anyway thanks again, I'm going to check out this dental thing. I'll keep everyone up to date at the newsgroup. Thank you once again for your time. Guest guest
Hope you have got through the 250 emails. Guest guest
I never had that spinny inject back into you test, although I know a lot of people have. I had my ANA factor tested, if it is raised then that indicates an auto- immune thingy. ANA stands for auto-nuclear-antibodies. Everyone is always quite impressed when I tell them I have lots of anti-nuclear antibodies. Anyway in a stupid mood today, London can do that to you. I WANT TO GO BACK TO SCOTLAND.
