Supplement question

Hey all,

I am still hanging in there-hovering at 215. I read in the Yahoo groups

list that people usually lose a lot the first week and possibly none for

the next few weeks, beginning to lose again in the 4th or 5th week. This

is my 4th week, so...pray for me!

A question about supplements:

I found the Atkins ones, but the man at the store was all " they are more

expensive and not any better, etc " . I really want to make a good choice to

assist with this particular program, so I held off until I asked yall.

Also, I already had a slight problem with hair thinning and I would like to

make sure I take something to combat problems in that area. I want to get

the best bang for my buck, as supplements are expensive. Any ideas?

Thanks,

Kamden in Texas

My opinion differs from your sales man. I swear by the Atkins supplements. I

definately notice a difference when I change to another brand. I think his

quality is very good and in actuality, unless you are comparing them to

something like a " OneA Day " they are much more comprehensive. JUMO...

Hi Kamden,

I just can't afford the Atkins supplements. There are less expensive choices, it

just takes a little more work. In the book he outlines what you need but then

you have to find a reliable brand. There was a show a while back, either

Dateline or 20/20 (?)where they did a study on supplement potency. They varied

widely but some of the cheaper ones turned out to be just as good as the more

expensive but... not all. I think there are some that guarrantee their potency,

so you have to check them out.

As for the thinning hair,I had this problem too. I take a high-potency B Complex

with biotin, and lecithin, as well as my multi, calcium and Omega 3's. I added

the extra B and Lecithin when my hair started to thin out and within a couple of

weeks it stopped.

However, some people say this occurs naturally with this diet and that it will

correct itself spontaneously and new hair will come in. I did get A LOT of new

hair growth and it was soft and much nicer than the old stuff I shed. I do

believe I was deficient in my B's though.

Hope this helps. Also, some people have found discount vitamin sources on line

that are supposed to be cheaper. Maybe someone else here has a good source they

could post.

I'd like to hear as well. The vitamins I have been taking have

10,00o units of A, plus I prefer iron-free.

Which ever way that you decide to go on the supplement... either Atkins or any

othre brand... Don't make the mistake of getting one of the so called " One-A-

Day. " Which ever one you get, you should be taking it at least 2 to three time

daily.

Have you checked Wal Mart? They are starting to carry the Atkins brand. Carb

solutions also has a supplement out that is for Low Carb " dieters " although I

haven't checked them against Aatkins.

I had gone to amazon.com and they had something on the first page that I could get $10 off my very first drugstore.com purchase. So I went and ordered Atkins Basic three at $10 off!!! Debra
