Guest guest
Imuran is the medicine. Do you know much about that med?I've read a lot about it and don't like the thought of using it at all.My husband got the stuff I needed for the intro diet and chicken soup is simmering as I write. I haven't tried any yogurt at all, and don't plan on doing it until later into my recovery. Does the curd cheese upset lactose intolerance people? It's from milk but is the pasteurization process make it okay? The cheesecake is too much for me to handle right now. Too weak and nauseas. Thanks for your responses.Sent from my iPhone > > The last couple of days I have had toilet bowls of red blood and > clotting. Not every time but probably 3 out of 15. You may be reacting to something you're eating - a sensitivity you haven't figured out yet. Once you clear out your system, this can happen, and for a while reactions become more immediate and more intense because there is no filtering. It's not at all unusual to have a strong backwards reaction your first few weeks, IME. Are you eating yogurt - too much yogurt can cause that reaction - or an illegal probiotic or a variety of other things. > . In the meantime, my diet has been restricted to almost nothing. What have you been eating? You should only be eating very intro or stage 1, very soft food right now. Food that is pureed. carrot puree, zucchini puree, spinach puree. And lots of rich meat and chicken soups. And eggs if you can handle them. > I'm scared, any advice? > > UC > SCD 1 month > > Sent from my iPhone > > > > > > ------------------------------------ > >

Yeah - I was on a version of that for a while, 6MP (one of imuran's components). http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Imuran Didn't seem to help or hurt - so I'm pretty neutral about it - though it might have helped mitigate symptoms so that I was never became aware of them. It's an immuno suppressant, though, the point being to suppress your immune system so it will be less reactive to things that will cause flaring and blood. I don't know how badly you are bleeding, so I can't really say definitely, one way or another. Start the chicken soup immediately - you could also eat it with a soft boiled egg in it for a richer soup - and the pureed food and, unless your symptoms get worse, evaluate your condition in a day or two to see whether you need to see your doc. I'd also look at LDN (low dose naltrexone) rather than Imuran for long term - that, definitely, has been helpful - it helps to modulate the immune system, rather than suppress it. And it gives you an endorphin boost while doing so - it's a really good medicine. Suppressing the immune system doesn't strike me now that I know better as a path to overall wellness. http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/lowdosenaltrexone/ You may need to go to another Gastro to get the prescription if this doc isn't interested. The other thing to do is take an epsom salt bath - this will help relieve internal achiness from bleeding. And some activated charcoal might help as well. > My husband got the stuff I needed for the intro diet and chicken > soup is simmering as I write. Seems like you should stay on non-dairy for a while or just add ghee (clarified butter) back in. > Thanks for your responses. Sure. Guest guest
Hi , I'm glad to hear the chicken soup is cooking. I was on Imuran a few years ago and if I remember correctly, the doctor said it takes about 4 weeks to start working. During that period I was vomiting constantly and had migraine like headaches but he made me stay on it saying I would adjust. I never did and just stopped it because I was so much worse than before. Prednisone is my drug of choice when absolutely necessary, but everyone is different and some can't handle that. If you start to see black insect like things moving in front of your eyes you know your blood level is very low and you need immediate attention. Also you will feel light headed and very weak. I hope you don't get to that point, but don't mess around with heavy blood loss, it can be dangerous. Wishing you the best.
