Garbage...

It's a bunch of vitamins and herbs that stimulate thyroid function.. what that means is that for a person with Hashi's it's going to trigger the antibodies and speed up the destruction of the gland... for a person that has limited gland function (post surgery or RAI or lots of scare tissue from Hashi's already) it won't help that much other than giving you a bunch of extra vitamins... and stressing the gland.

It's a great gimmick on the part of the folks selling it... but criminal that it's touted as a cure for folks with thyroid disorders and not just suffering from low thyroid function from being on crappy diets....

.... sorry.. pet another pet peeve of mine.... folks that do really stupid diets and damage their thyroid glands.....

I posted this here a year ago... May 16th as a matter of fact... quoting myself again, I offered a challenge when I wrote this last year..... I repeat the challenge... now we have over a 1,000 members... we'll reach even more people!

I admit that I've not been to their website since.. so I don't know how much they may have altered their..... 'information'

****************

Thyrin ATC...I just went to their website again.. they've added a FAQs page (Frequently asked questions)

One of them asks if it's a replacement for thyroid medication? Answer: No

Can it be taken in conjunction with prescription thyroid medication? Answer: Ask your doc..

Will it still work even if I haven't been diagnosed with a thyroid problem? Answer: "Thyrin-ATC is designed to replenish and help support thyroid hormone function by supplying thyroid-specific nutrients that can be lost as a result of ill-advised crash-diet programs."

Finally, they used to admit that all it the stuff is is a bunch of vitamins and such.. they took that page away... I'd have to dig through my stuff to see if I saved a copy of that page.. the one that said what was in it....

They have a new product, these same folks, called ThyroStart, they still have an ingredient list...

a bunch of vitamins, in small amounts... some herbals.. and .....

Proprietary Blend (Thydrazine™) Kelp Meal (0.15% Iodine [500mg]) Niacinamide, L-Tyrosine, Horsetail grass, Gentian Root, Nettles, Radish Extract 4:1, Parathyroid Substance,Thymus Substance Adrenal Substance, Pancreas Substance

Suggested Use of ThyroStart Thyroid Support:Two Capsules three times daily with meals. ThyroStart is a Weight Loss Adjunct, designed to help ANY Primary Weight Loss program work better. Click Below for a recommended Silver Sage Primary Weight Loss Product:

Hmmmmm They sell you 90 caps for $23, plus shipping.... and you take six a day. Getting proper thyroid hormone would be a wiser way to spend that kind of money.

Wonder what 'substance' is?

They do have a disclamer.. the one that they post so that they can do this without being shut down by the FDA:

*The products and the claims made about specific products on or through this site have not been evaluated by Peachtree Health Products or the United States Food and Drug Administration and are not approved to diagnose, treat, cure or prevent disease. The information provided on this site is for informational purposes only and is not intended as a substitute for advice from your physician or other health care professional or any information contained on or in any product label or packaging. You should not use the information on this site for diagnosis or treatment of any health problem or for prescription of any medication or other treatment. You should consult with a healthcare professional before starting any diet, exercise or supplementation program, before taking any medication, or if you have or suspect you might have a health problem.*

So.. having posted all that, I'll get sued now.. you guys gonna visit me in jail??

This stuff should be criminal... imagine how many folks, women, are having problems and go to docs that are too stupid, ingnorant, uncaring to help them, so they buy this crap and end up dead, or wishing they were..... but it will be blamed on them, for not taking proper care of their health, using 'fad products', and failing to 'seek proper medical attention'

I can say that.... I went in to see a doc, he did want to test me, cuz I was 'too fat to be sick' he noted my symptoms of thyroid storm but didn't do anything about it, just told me to go home and enjoy the fact that i could eat anything I wanted and still lose weight.... I could have DIED because of him. As it what I had to go to the hospital and had to swallow radiation to killl my thyroid or DIE.. then told it was my fault for not coming in soon enough, and that I still might die.... MY FAULT!!!

*d e e p s l o w b r e a t h*

Folks need proper care NOW not in five years when they were wishing they were dead....

* d e e p s l o w b r e a t h *

Okay... I'm better now.... challenge to everyone reading this.... stop five people tomorrow, if you are out and about ... and ask them if they know how to be tested for proper thyroid function... if they are curious to learn more... send them to about.com and their thryoid section... or send them to our web site www.thyrophoenix.com Those are the two places that come to mind that are easy to remember.. so you don't have to write stuff down....

We have over 700 members here... Not everyone reads every day, not everyone who reads everyday still reads my long posts all the way to the end hehehehehe... so lets say just 100 people read this and 50 of you go out and do it... that's gonna be 250 people that get asked tommorrow... If it affects just 1 % of them, that's 2 or 3 people that we will have helped point in a direction to find more info...

... cool?

You could add a tag line to the end of your emails... a link to about.com.. or thyrophoenix, or to whichever of the groups (we are all in several) that you care to feature that day.

Here are some samples of what you might use:

Learn more about thyroid disease: http://thyroid.about.com/

Looking for more info on thyroid? www.thyrophoenix.com

Need a shoulder or helping hand to face thyroid disease? http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/The_Thyroid_Support_Group/

Think about it... what could you do to spread the word?

You know what, topper, you're a genius ! I always read to the end of your

posts because for one thing, it's so entertaining ! lol But also for the

information. And I will put the addresses, as you suggest, at the end of my

emails. But, as for talking to people in the street, I've tried that (sort

of) and you know what ? They don't want to know ! They all think it can't

happen to them !! They have to believe that if it happened to me, it has to

be my fault. It's easier for them that way. Because, if it really could just

happen to anyone, for no reason, then it's far too frightening for them to

contemplate ! And they immitate the ostrich and stick their heads in the

sand. I have tried, I really have, and I'm still trying. But ignorance and

prejudice - not to mention studpidity - are difficult to fight.

I wish you well, lili

PS A doctor once said to me, 'you can't blame everything on your thyroid,

you have to accept some blame for the state you're in'

My doctor told me that my weight gain (which happened when I

increased exercise) was not related to my thyroid, but to just

getting older. That people just want to blame their thyroid.
