Guest guest
So I saw my GI today among many topics discussed was C Diff. This has been a constant agonizing problem for me for the past 8 years. Only the SCD has helped me.. But I am still far away from being better. The GI was explaining to me that C Diff is becoming a much bigger problem than previously thought. It's super resistant, most labs don't check for various strains and the incubation methods that most labs use is laughable. He told me that babies in neo-natal units in hospitals- well a massive percentage of them have C Diff. He refuses to visit newborns in hospitals especially if a person is taking antibiotics. There are various labs through universities that have better C Diff testing methods. Jetti Katz in NYC also test for various strains. He explained to me the big no no of a antibiotic was Clindamycin (which is what I was prescribed that started this whole circus) and today Levaquin is a huge nono (I got terribly ill from Levaquin in the hospital- They told me I was crazy as Levaquin and Cipro are the same class of antibiotics.) Anyway.. he said Flagyl has basically become useless and pulsing with Vanco is what is needed today. He also said that fecal transplants are showing very good results although people are freaked by it (to me it's organic better than what a drug company would give me) anyway- I asked if it is best to get Fecal transplant from someone that lives with you as they are exposed to the same surrounding/bacteria as the patient. He said that is ideal but that person cannot have any trace of C Diff and needs to be super healthy. He also said giving C Diff patients S Boulardii is very good too. Here is an interesting link he gave me about a discussion on all the newest stuff about C Diff; http://www.rmei.com/CDI041/ I am going to check it out too.
