Guest guest
Hey , I was vegan before diagnosed Celiac in October of 08. I LOVED being vegan, but a few months after diagnosis i added some dairy, and now I am on the SCD (only 3 weeks). I have decided that i need to give my body whatever it needs to be healthy, and if it were possible that being vegan was hurting me, it seemed to negate the whole reason i decided to be vegan in the first place! Are you following me? I get that its wierd to even think of eating meat, but we are all sick and if there is a medecine to make you feel better you should take it. Many people think of the SCD as medecine. It would be extremely hard and I would not recomend the SCD without meat. I hope you feel better soon. > > I am thinking of trying the total diet but who can afford to be weak for months at a time. I don't understand because the list of foods seems pretty healthy. I am not a meat eater and the thought of bacon and other meats makes me a bit nauseated. The other proteins offered are yogurt which gives me gas and other dairy products that have never agreed with me before. I'm skinny already and don't need to be even skinnier and weak. It's a bit daunting to hear people say they have been weak and sick for months on the diet. Is it normal to feel that bad for that long on a diet that's suppose to improve your condition? . > > > > > ________________________________ > > To: BTVC-SCD > Sent: Saturday, March 7, 2009 5:11:30 PM > Subject: Struggling with SCD > > > I'm new to this diet, UC since 15, and now 38. I amnot responding to meds at this point, so here I am. I'm very committed, but have been on diet for a month and symptoms are getting worse, and I am feeling very discouraged. I feel very weak most of the time, and feeling very guilty that I can't be there for them the way I used to be. I am a recovering anorexic/bulimic (sugar addict) and it's bringing up a lot for me. > Is there anyone out there who can shed some experience and hope that might pull me out of this. Is weakness normal? And if so when does it go away. > Thanks to those who replied to an earlier posting. Feeling connected to others who understand is priceless. Thanks again in advance, for any help. > It is soooo appreciated. > UC 1985 > SCD 1 month. >
