Guest guest
> Should I definitely be on DIM? Does high estrogen in perimenopause > also pose the risks that it does when estrogen is replaced in > menopause? > One thing that always bothered me, but never looked at the primary research to find out the truth, is how the report that HRP " increases breast cancer risk " but they NEVER seems to say increases them relative to WHAT?! Is this again pre-menopausal women, or is it aginst non-HRT menopausal women? And if it is against the latter group, is the risk greater than the baseline for pre-menopuasal women (this is hard as cancer risk increases with age anyway). Because I'd *expect* HRT to increse cancer risk, as at least some forms of breast cancer (and other kinds?) are hormone sensitive. The question I'd be want to know if would it increase my risk against a pre-menopausal women. The other thing that bugs me is that it's never clear what exactly HRT does or doesn't do. It replaces estrogen and/or progesterone, but does it even attempt to do it a way that is sort of physiological (a monthly cycle to be sure, and perhaps a diurnal cycle as well - I'm not sure)? Could *that* influence the cancer risk? It could be that estrogen and progesterone and whatever other hormones are in the mix might cancel each other out in their cancer risk (somewhat) - but likely ONLY if they are given in a near-physiological pattern. Suzzanne Sommers (Ageless), although I haven't read anything by her, was mentioned earlier as pointing out the importance of progesterone cream over fat tissue, as it give the hormone a " pulse " (or was that Mercola who said that?) If she does treat differently, closer to a physiologic pattern, does she have different (though anecdotal and not rigorous enough to be taken " seriously " by " real " researchers and doctors..) results with reference to cancer risk?
