Just some residual bleeding during the day. So the trajectory is good, it will just take a while to get the full results you want. > My question is whether the reduction in bleeding and increase in mucus > is a positive sign or not. I'm just not sure how long to wait. Cutting dairy down significantly or out altogether will help get rid of the mucous. (except ghee which has milk solids removed and yogurt is discretionary. I was off of yogurt for 5 months, but feel that going back to it bumped up my health significantly. Although it is also possible the facts that taking a break from it made its effects stronger when I got back on it.) Sulfasalazine never worked for me as far as I could tell, that is, it may have kept things from getting worse without me being aware of it. I recently dropped the colozal (sulfasalazine) and now just use the LDN and I haven't yet seen a worsening of symptoms. <VBG> Don't yet know if this will prove to be idiotic and if I should have gotten off of it more slowly. Or if the body retains some residual of the drug which wears off slowly, so that I may yet see worsening of symptoms. Although I'm aware you said that you had some issues weaning off of it, so it quite possibly worked better for you. However, IME, LDN helps a lot more and just generally makes you feel better. You might consider trying that if you are going to resume medication. Also, IME, and I think Kim M. has mentioned something similar, for the first few years, some cyclical flaring may occur - the thing to remember is that these flares are much less bad than ones that occurred before SCD. So even when you were symptom free, you may have retained some level of the disease deep in your tissues. Or perhaps the genetic factor kicked in and even though you had entirely licked it, genetic factors kicked back into gear once your gut ecology got somewhat unbalanced.
