Urticaria newbie

Hi all. I'm very new to trying to find out what my "disease" actually is. After reading some of your correspondence, I'm beginning to believe that what I have is not actually urticaria. I do get the hives, but they are only caused by physical contact (i.e. scratching) where I welt in streaks, not in patches. It does not affect my face or throat or anything of the kind, but is a miserable condition. I initially went to an allergist and he gave me the standard skin patches and needles to try to diagnose, but every test came out negative. He prescribed Claritin and sent me on my merry itching way. I cannot do anything physical without welting and would like your input on whether I am on the right track. Benadryl makes me extremely sleepy and I can hardly function on the drug. Your input would be greatly appreciated. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~If you do wish to unsubscribe then you can click on the following link: urticaria-unsubscribeegroups~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~This list is in the service of those who suffer from Chronic Urticaria (hives). Hi Sherrie,

I also get the streaks, but mine are caused by pressure. When I wake up in

the morning, you can see where I laid on the sheets (they don't fit as tight

as I'd like and sort of have extra material in the middle.) I also get

streaks from seams and tight clothing or from " edges " that I sit on or lean

up against.
