Ayden is 21mo,and works so hard for such a little guy just to get his point across,to us great eye contact he has! What i want to know Is WHY people,family friends have such a hard time believeing that he wont just wake up one mornign and speak like everyone else. Im not so much hurt by comments by distant family or even stangers it smy friends that REALLY BUG me!, (background)-we have one friends whos son was born deaf just over 3 yrs ago, so of course we all worked harder to learn to sign so we could ocmmunicate with him, about the same time another friends son started to recieve speech for a delay, this same friend learned sign so well she now teaches a continuing ed class 1 a yr so others can learn basics. However she seems to have major issues with MY NON - VERBAL son recieving therapy. SHe continues to say how her son this and that and its going to be the same for mine.blah blah blah. I once made a comment to her that she'll have to lend me some of her sources so i can learn to sign better with both ayden(my son) & ben our friends son. she said u should take my class, i say when is it she says next oct. and that was that. Im so hurt that when shes around i feel akward even discussing his set back and acheived goals. and what course of actions we are about to try ,last night i made acoomment about how he says mama, and laugh about how it could actuloly mean me most of the time. She says " SEE TOLD YOU HE WOULD TALK " .anyone else that wouldnt bother me her i shut up and bite my lip. ok so again why is it so hard to believe that he really just cant do it ,wants too but cant. I want to strangel her and say come on wake up look at him he cant even remeber to sign proper, we are starting to use PEC,please help me make it easier for him instead of u saying just wait hes fine get over it! ok so im done whining .bitching whatever im dong. thank you! One more quick question------ wheres is everyone from and does anyone know of groups that are working in NY, upstate,capital region. thats where I'm at. thanks again and special butterfly kisses to ALL!
