Guest guest
: I had a similar problem. I was taking different types of iron supplements and could not get my iron above 30. I even had a colonoscopy and EGD done to see if there was any blood loss from my GI tract, but it was normal. Finally my doctor prescribed ferrous gluconate 325 mg (she said to take two a day, but I'm only taking one) 300 mg, and now my recent ferritin level went up to 90! So you might just need a different form of iron--more potent. Some people have problems with absorption and finding the correct iron might take a little experimenting. If you can get ferrous gluconate that is a very well absorbed form of iron and very inexpensive, but I believe it has to be prescribed. Dove Rose ---------- My Beloved is mine and I am His. Guest guest
Thanks for the help with my iron. I never knew so many things blocked absorbtion. Makes me wonder how I get anything at all. I have dealt with low iron my whole life, and I wonder if it's from malabsorbtion or thyroid. I am on a T3 supplement which is helping my energy level. So maybe it will help my iron too. There just seems to be so much to know, and yet so little space in my brain to figure things out. I tried reading up on iron but the medical lingo leaves me soo confused. I'm gonna bring up other supplements with my ND and see what she says. Honestly, I feel she may be lacking in this area, as her response was some times people just have low iron. And for me that's not good enough, I want answers why. Thanks again for the help!
