Dawn,

I constantly ask myself this question. I have 3 daughters, my youngest is

the one who had went through all of the testing and came out with a

diagnosis for mito. I have been asked about getting myself and my other two

daughters tested. For my youngest we did it because we were " ruling out "

what she did not have. She had been tested for so many other diseases, but

how can you know what to treat, if you do not know what you have. Had we

given up early on we would have just went on the first diagnosis of;

mentally retarded, deaf, blind... Since diagnosis of the correct disease,

we were able to begin treatment and she is the busiest 5 1/2 year old I

know. Not mentally retarded, not blind, and not deaf (surgery). Thank God

for nudging me along and not letting me give up. If no one was ever

diagnosed with cancer, we would not know about it today and would not have

the " cures " that we have today. Generations of the females in my family

have had serious health problems all of there life, now most of them are

addicted to major pain medications because someone was blindly treating what

it " might " be instead of looking for the problem. Sorry this letter was

much longer than I meant for it to be. Keep your faith, and remember that

anyone who cares about you will not ask you to defend yourself about helping

yourself.

Best Wishes, Patti
