Low cortiosl causes hypoglycemia which causes blood sugar peaks and valleys whicjh also predisposes us to insulin resistance. Insulin resistance IS Diabetes Type 2. Guest guest Posted December 5, 2007 Report Share Posted December 5, 2007 the ironic thing is my diet is actually very close to the diabetes diet,,,although I do eat some starchy complex carbs such as brown rice and potatoes but I do stay away from simple carbs and sugars. Ive always taken fish oil,,,eat nuts,,olive oil,,chicken w/o the skin etc.I dont drink or smoke,,,I workout (although I really have to drag myself to the gym). Im just really shocked that my blood sugar is so high considering I live so healthy. Can't imagine what your glucose would have been had you been eating the standard fast food diet. If you love a potato or carb with dinner and aren't hypoglycemic, you might just want to add a chromium supplement at dinnertime to reduce the glucose spike. It really works! It does seem to have a common thread. I got diagnosed with insulin resistance about 3 years ago when my glucose was 107 and my insulin level was 18.
