Guest guest
Terry -- I know its frustrating --- Have you tried taking the same total amount (mg) per day, but decreasing the night time dose? That was an important "step" in the tapering ---getting rid of the night time dose. You "seem" to be at a low enough total dose per day to be able to take less at night. Do you have 1mg tablets? or what? I have 5mg tablets that I break in half. So maybe rather taht 5 am & 4 pm; you could do 6 & 3 OR 7 & 2. Anyway, let me know ... ok? Barbara Hi Barb, I too have been tapering for a long time now and am down to 9mg of prednisone per day. I just stepped down to 9 from 10. My experience is that the third day is the roughest. It must be that the build up of prednisone may last for a couple of days. Then I notice that it takes about 2 to 3 weeks for all of the hives to go away, and anohter week or so for the rest of my body to stabilize. I take 5mg in the AM and 4 mg in the PM. I'm trying to eliminate the PM doses, so I can sleep through most of the rough stuff. I think I will end up tapering very slowly and when I get to the bottom of the dose, go every other day, then every other 2 days and etc.. till it works. It's a rough ride, so hang in there.. Guest guest
Hi Barb, yeah I have both 5mg tabs and 1 mg tabs, and of course this confuses the insurance company when they get billed. Last winter I had to go to the split daily dose to make it through to morning. I have been reducing from both AM and PM, but I'm low enough now that I think I can train my body to eliminate the PM dose. As you know, when you think you have something working to keep this disease at bay and the hives down, you sure don't feel like messing with it. that's why I haven't tried to combine and get it down to one dosing per day, without eliminateing instead. But, you give me some good idea's and I think I'll try them. Thanks... Oh, yeah, it's really nice having 5mg and 1mg tabs.
