Hi Danyelle,

My son is six months and we dont do any breathing treatments. He has cpt once a

day and is on ventolin for his wheezing but no nebs as yet. I am from Australia

and we do seem to do things a bit differently but I dont think it's uncommom not

to do breathing treaments at this age unless the baby has had lung problems.

That's just my experience.

Kristy.

Kristy,

Micah was diagnosed at nine weeks old and we began breathing treatments

right away. We did cpt as well. What is the reason for your doctors not

starting breathing treatments right away?

The albuterol treatments are usually started immediately or on an as-needed

basis I believe. Its individual; remember everyone PRESENTS different. My

son started coly (like tobi) at 6 mos. cause he grew a psyed. (sp).

With CF there is no straight answer because all the Drs. will say something

different because " It PRESENTS different " . I have three kids with CF and all

3 PRESENT different.

Just putting my 2 cents in.

I think it depends on the clinic you go to. I think sometimes they try not

to overwhelm the parents in the beginning. When JC was diagnosed at 4

months, at out first clinic visit they told us to do the cpt. Then at the

next visit 3 months later we started the albutterol treatments before each

cpt.

Eilish started cpt form 3 weeks of age. But they don't do breathing stuff

until they are two (this is where they huff and cough etc. not the masks).

The dr. said any earlier and its not always done right. But with the mask

she did have one at 13mths for a few months.
