Guest guest
Thanks for all of the feed back. Kerry, the mats sound like a great idea thanks alot. She does have an FM system at school, but we don't use one at home. I will look into that again, I've always gotten conflicting responses about using an FM system outside of school. We are currently using a mirror but I still find it a distraction to take my eyes off the rode. When she's signing I have to watch her hands, that takes more than just a glance. People drive so insanely out here that one spilt second means everything. I know that as she gets older it will get easier. For now it's so stressful because I have a one year old who goes with us everywhere and of course if Zahra starts getting frustrated and acts up, then she follows suit. The right side of my neck is constantly knotted because I'm always whipping my head around and reaching my right arm back to make some sign. I can give her quick answers or comments vocally, but holding a conversation means using sign language. Shes at the age that she has a question for everything she sees. I did make a smart choice a few months ago that no matter how much of a hurry I'm in, when I pick her up from school we sit in the car for a few minutes and talk about her day, look at her school work, etc. That way we get all of that communication out of the way before I start driving. I can not wait until she can sit in the front seat. I will never forget a mother at a conference telling us that the deaf child in the family automatically gets shotgun everytime Thanks for your help, Apryl

It's a good thing that my sister works at a physical therapy office......
