Guest guest
Thanks for this! When we were in Sydney last June I managed to spend a month there without going over the bridge (!) but I have decided that I *will* do the Bridge walk when we go back this March - I'm petrified of heights and the Bridge seems so much bigger when you are sailing underneath it in a 60ft yacht! Just hoping the day we book will be sunny and not too windy! berni.laycock@... wrote: > > > We were typical tourist and did the bridge climb, check out > > http://www.bridgeclimb.com > > For me it was a great experience. My legs literally stop if I try to climb anywhere high. Take me up in a lift and it's fine but I still can't go outside on viewing platforms or go up close to windows - I sink to my knees if I do!! We went a few years ago to Vienna and decided to climb the cathedral tower there. I got to the first platform, just. I was terrifed walking up this narrow stone spiral staircase. And even more terrified walking down. There is *nothing* in the world that I want to see or expereince enough to put myself through anything similar ever again. -- Sue

We went to the Blue Mountains last June - fantastic weather - cool and clear, I thought I'd lost Kitty at one point though - I was walking down 500 steps at Three sisters when a flash of blue passed my eye and went over the safety railing - Kitty was in the backpack wearing a lovely blue outfit and of course I thought it was her and screamed!!! In fact it was only her hat - which snagged on a branch within reach rather than falling several hundred feet! You can see pictures of our Australia holiday at http://albums.photopoint.com/j/AlbumIndex?u=848605 & a=7108335 The password is Wisley. I don't think we'll go back to the Blue Mountains this trip - it will probably be too hot and Kitty wants to walk everywhere and is getting too heavy for the backpack so it would be more stressful.... If anyone is going I can recommend the best B & B in the world in Wentworth Falls. We will definitely go back to the Southern Highlands and the NSW South Coast. A trip to a lovely pottery in Berrima is on the cards and I want ot go back to Berry. Our friends are coming home in April/May so I can buy BIG things as they can just pop them into their container for me! I would like to go to the Hunter Valley, I *will* do the Bridge walk, I'm hoping to visit Sue W in Melbourne, and I must find the website for Sydney Opera House so that we can book tickets for something. we will go and see every film showing at 'La Premier' at Fox studios (Best seating and overall cinema experience ever - real luxury - wine, free soft drinks, nibbles, popcorn etc and sofas to sit on) if DH has his way, and we'll eat at loads of restaurants! Apart from that I really would be happy to spend the days mooching around with my best friend and my god daughter - and I can't wait to be warm again - I've had cold feet since about October! In the meantime, DH and I booked the Elvis Wedding Chapel in Las Vegas - and we are renewing our vows on Tuesday 20th Feb. at 5,30pm. We always said that this is what we should have done the first time around - rather than spending a fortune on a big wedding here! Its all a bit of a laugh really - but I'm kind of glad we want to do it - my honorary dad is going to be there too - along with some other friends (they are in America doing book fairs and Las Vegas is a fun place to go for a break) so we'll have quite a party afterwards! I'll post pictures when I get back - I'm trying to decide between a tasteful pale grey bias cut silk dress and totally tasteless snakeskin trousers and a bikini top! -- http://www.foxstitch.co.uk/

SImilar epxereince I think but haven't done it yet. As for the Las Vegas wedding - definitely NOT the silk dress! -- Sue

Gosh, I know exactly how you feel, Sue ! :-( I have never really admitted to myself that I'm afraid of heights, but I truly am. When we went up the Eiffel Tower last year (my first time!), we got to the top viewing gallery bit, and I just couldn't go near the window. Same when we went down the stairs to the exterior bit - I hugged the inner wall, avoiding people moving around me for fear they would push me away from the wall and near the edge, trying very hard to move myself towards the edge to look at the wonderful view (well, I'll take everyone else's word on how amazing it was!), and just couldn't move ! It's so debilitating. I don't know about you, but it makes me really angry with myself for being such a big wuss. -- Clare Lusher. SAHM to Ruairà (10/99). Guest guest
You know what gets me - spiral staircases in castles - and I love castles but I get really scared coming down these. Can do the heights thing providing there is a barrier between me and the drop - so a wall for example. And Clare - why are we still up? However, I have in the past forced myself to do abseilling (only once though) and parachute jumps (both static line and a tandem free fall jump which I did with a member of the British Free Fall Parachuting team). I can't say I enjoyed doing them - but I did feel very proud of myself afterwards! My mother will still tell anyone who asks about the time she had to come to the local park to get me down from the climbing frame. I was 10 years old and had climbed up OK, but then I looked down and realised I was about 6 ft off the ground an I froze - couldn't take my hands off the bars!!! -- http://www.foxstitch.co.uk/
