I was also diagnosed with left bundle branch block. I was cured by ablation.

Germaine, I have had a left bundle branch block for at least 25 years,

probably caused, my doctor says, by a viral infection I didn't know I had

at the time. The LBB predates both my mild heart attack about 6 years ago

and the afib which developed about 18 months after that. My cardio feels my

afib has been the result of my heart attack and it is pretty well controlled

at the moment. The only comment he has made about the LBB is that it masks

ischemic changes on EKG, so a stress test, for example, is not helpful in

diagnosing any future ischemic changes I might have in my heart. Although I

am on beta blockers now because of my MI and afib, I was not treated for the

LBB when it was discovered, and I still have it according to all the EKGs

I've had. I figured it was just " there " and would never go away so I'm

interested to learn that yours sort of disappeared for a while. In any

case, none of my docs have ever gotten excited by this so I haven't either.

I'm sorry I don't know of any particular web sites that discuss LBB with

afib but you might try PubMed and put in those two terms. I must say that

I've often found Google to be as helpful as PubMed.

Hi Brenta,

I was sent for a stress test back in 96. The cardiologist asked me

why my doctor sent me for it when I had LBBB. Up to this point I

had never even had a resting EKG, so no one knew I had LBBB. At

that time he did not continue with the Stress Test. The staff told

me it was not unusual to have it come and go. Enter the diagnosis of

AFIB in 2001 and no LBBB. Therefore I was surprised and mildly

amused when I am sent back to the same cardio for a stress test a

few days ago and voila the LBBB is back! He proceeded with the

stress test this time but my heart rate went up to over 200 rather

quickly and I became short of breath so he stopped it and

reccommended and Echocardiogram and a thallium stress test. All this

without the knowledge of my electrophysiologist, I did try to get to

see him when I had intense chest pain for three hours a month ago,

but his secretary told me he was booked solid and to go to my family

doctor. Well, my family doc did not waste any time getting me for

the stress test with the other cardio. Ah, medicare in Canada -

works wonderfully well in an emergency but drop back to urgent or

below and " get in line " for months!

Was this the full PVI ablation for AFIB which cleared the LBBB too?
