Guest guest
Michele - I waited to see if anyone else had responded, and no one had yet, so here goes, in briefest form. DIRECTIONS: If you are driving in, here is the easiest way to park. Simply go to the main entrance of the hospital on 68th street. Drive up the " road " and stay to the left as if you are going to go around the circle, and there is valet parking. The fee is $24 for a day (but any parking lot around the hospital is about that price, too!!! so valet parking is the easy way!!!). Go into the main lobby to the main information desk. Turn right and go down the hallway, past the gift shop, and keep going - through one set of double doors. (Watch for signs for the M and N buildings.) I think the hallway is on your left where there is an elevator, which you can take to the 6th floor (the M elevator). Dr. Harbison's office is #602 Bldg M. WAITING: Try and get there BEFORE your appt time, so that you are assured of being the first one. Unfortunately, the Peds Endo office double- and triple-books appts, so there can be 3 people all with a 10:00am appt with Dr. H. Plan on waiting 60 minutes or more before seeing her. But it is worth it, because once you get in the office with her, she will devote as much time as needed!!!! We always wait out in the hallway on the bench - away from the claustrophic feeling of the tiny waiting room. Just tell the receptionist where you will be - they come and get you. Bring lots of toys, books, paper & crayons. Bring food and drink for everyone!!! One never knows if Dr. H will send you off to the lab! Also, I have found it worthwhile to bring one toy/activity that hasn't seen in awhile. I pull it out after Dr. H has examined and it is time for " mom and Dr. H to talk. " Then becomes absorbed and I can listen to Dr. H. If you have to experience any major blood draws or anything unpleasant, bribery to the gift shop works well. likes to be bribed with a trip by taxi to FAO Schwartz - works wonders (leave the car at the lot and take a taxi, and then you can come back again!!!) Come PREPARED - or better yet - send your daughter's records to her prior. The better organized you are, the better it is. You can get a multi-part folder at most stationary stores - one with page-like dividers and the 2-hole metal clasp at the top of each divider. You can put her lab results in one section, different medical records in each section. Make sure to have a DETAILED growth spreadsheet. Put date, age (months), and weight and height/length. Make sure to note which doctor did each measurement so she can compare similar doctors' measurements (scales can differ by doctor). You can mail or fedex her records, and then email Dr. H and let her know that your daughter's records are on their way. I think that is it. Everyone will probably tell you this - but Dr. H's bark is worse than her bite. She can be a bit stern sometimes, so don't be put off by this (Both and I have gotten mini-lectures about things like thumb sucking, my picking her up, her whining, etc.). But she is an awesome doctor, and she adores her patients. She is no nonsense, doesn't have time for chit-chat - and yet she will spend an hour or more if it meant explaining some medical thing that you didn't understand!!!! Good luck!!!! Guest guest
Dear Thanks for the info. I was planning to take the Long Island railroad into the city due to traffic into the city in the morning. I was wondering if I should get a copy of Kaitlyn's bone age e-xray. I have a copy of the report that was sent to my endo and not a copy of the ex-ray. I have a copy of the blood test that was had in December also. I also have three different people tracking her growth. The height is the same but the weight is always off by ounces. Oh she doesn't like thumb sucking.... Kaitlyn was sucking her thumb when she was inside of me. I saw it on ultrasound and she still does, not as much... also twirls my hair when she does. She actually use to pull her hair out to do it after constantly telling her no, now she pull mine. If I'm not around she will look her hair anywhere she can find it. She knows where the my hairbrush is and will pull out a piece her herself. Very strange...... Was that your article in the Magic newsletter. Thank you Michele ( Mom) Kaitlyn RSS --- magicrss@... wrote: > Michele - I waited to see if anyone else had > responded, and no one had yet, so here goes, in > briefest form. > > DIRECTIONS: If you are driving in, here is the > easiest way to park.
