I am so glad to hear the good news about Lyssa!! We were seeing Dr.

Dobbs at 1:30 that day. I thought we would probably run into you or

, but it didn't work out that way. I was thinking about you

guys though, hoping you were hearing good news. Our appt was at

1:30. We got there a couple of minutes after 1 and they sent us back

to the shop to get new shoes first and we were back there for at

least an hour. That's probably where we missed you guys. Our news

was great is doing fine and we go back in 6 months. We were

going to spend the night, but ended up driving home--a 13 1/2 hour

marathon from pulling out of the driveway to pulling back in (only

stopping to eat)! How about you ? Good news for you guys

also? It was good to see Dr. Dobbs and after 6 months--

it's kinda feels like your going to visit family! I'm so thankful

for that place! Continued good thoughts thoughts for you guys---

Pam,

and I were looking for you...didn't know if you read that post or

not, but I didn't end up working on Thur 11-6 because I had to bring Ciara

in to see Dr. Dobbs at his clinic at Children's Hosp in the AM. Ciara got

her DBB on Tues and she ended up with purple/red blisters on both heels (L

worse than R) and I had to cancel that flu stop clinic I was supposed to

work at. I told Dr. Dobbs that I wanted to meet you and and that I

thought I might just stop by Shriners to meet ya'll. He told me how to get

there, (easy) and it ends up being a bit closer to me than having to go all

the way downtown, not to mention I wouldn't have all these copays, so I

filled out the application and one of the Shriners there in the lobby

sponsered Ciara. So hopefully I will be hearing from Shriners soon and we

will start going there instead of down to Children's Hospital. I am sure

you were in the shop when I was looking for you!

PS If anyone is reading this that knows something about a post someone had

written earlier on purple vs. red marks...let me know. I glanced at it but

didn't have time to fully read the post and dh deleted it accidentally. Now

I am worried that the area on Ciara's left heel is a pressure sore and not

just a blood blister as I had previously thought. If it is a pressure sore,

will it heal with time since we got her shoes adjusted to the correct angles

and made sure she was down in the shoe better? She has bandaids on both

heels.

Dear Gia

My son had terrible blisters on his heels after going into the DBB. They

started off red then to a purple blister when eventually the skin breaks

then in our case became infected. Connor didn't have inserts. His heels were

down as far as we knew. He had to go back into casts for one week, then I

covered the area with a sterilised dressing. It took roughly 6 weeks heal on

his heels. He still has a bit of a scar. He is now in his second pair of

shoes @ 16/18 hours and he is doing great. We ended up cutting a hole in the

back of one of his shoes (the worst one) just to get through it and to stop

it rubbing...... We didn't have to do that with the second shoes.

Good luck.

Glad to hear things are going well for you guys and your remedied her

heels before they became too much of a problem. At least your life

will slow down a little with decreased trips.

I agree, great to hear you're circumventing problems before they

happen! You're the winner of the prize for first parent to cut a hole to

prevent a sore! (that I know of) I'm glad to hear it worked. Very smart

not to let it make baby hurt before you got on top of the problem. You're

on your way now!

I am really looking forward to being at home more, and I know my boss is

glad that I will actually be at work for a whole week! It has been

getting pretty stressful with all the trips to St. Louis, but it is well

worth it. Her feet look great! I can't say enough about how great a

doctor Dr. Dobbs is. We are very greatful to him and his whole staff at

Shriners!

Hi all,

We just got back from Missouri for a check up on Lyssa. Dr.

Dobbs says she is doing great, and that we don't have to return

for 2 months! She just finished the first month of the 23/7 DBB

and she is doing great with it. So we will be back on the 22 of

April for a check up. It's great to finally hear good news when we

see the doctor about Lyssa's feet!
