Guest guest
Pete: See http://www.americanheart.org/presenter.jhtml?identifier=71 for an official definition of " ectopic " . But generally ectopic is a premature beat (generally sensed by the patient as a skipped or missed beat). Ectopics can be premature atrial contractions (PACs) or premature ventricular contractions (PVCs), also known as Premature Ventricular Beats (PVBs). You may want to click on " Files " on this board to look at abbreviations. Everyone, everyday has ectopic beats. But in some people they become frequent, as singles, doubles, triples, etc. Many fibbers become very sensitive to their heart beats, and anxious over any extra beats or missed beats. Some think a run of ectopics may precede an afib episode. Many of us take magnesium supplements which may help calm ectopics. , Charlotte NC > Can someone help me? > What exactly are ectopics? > I am confused and don't want to sound stupid I'm trying to do as much > research as I can but there is so much to know. > > Thanks > Pete Up state NY
