,

What kind of tests are they doing? Do you have a port-a-cath or are you going to have a PICC line put in for the TPN?

Have you researched the gastric pacemaker?

Re: MNGIE

I may have to go on TPN which Dr. Cohen said could maybe help with the motility as it would give me more muscle tone. I won't know about that until after all the tests are complete. Dear ,Just wanted to add my birthday wishes too. I hope it's a good one.

Thanks for answering my question about muscle

mass. i sure hopethe TPN can help you with this. Mestinon is a drug used to

treat myasthenia gravis. In some cases of mito it has

been found to help muscle strength somewhat. It is the side effects of Mestinon

that help the gut. But hey- if it works and its not

harmful.... Take care, Celia

thankyou for the information. That could be very helpful in the future for me. Good luck with you test.

Re: MNGIE

Betsy,

I'm having the MNGIE test, creatine test, anorectal manometry, barium enema, colonic transit test, defography and TSH blood test. I will also have my trace mineral's measured as well.

I have a broviac central line that I recieve my carnitine through so I would recieve the TPN the same way.

I have researched the gastric pacemaker but it's just for the stomach and generally they won't use them in people who have motility probs. throughout their GI tracts.
