Guest guest
Hello Everyone, I am looking for advice. My 11 year old sons diagnosis just changed from Developmentally Delayed, to Severe Disorder of Language. He is in an LH placement. He receives speech 4 times 20 minutes weekly. Since he was misdiagnosed for so many years I think the school district owes him more services to make up for lost time. I am wondering what kinds of services would best help him to improve his speech and language, reading and writing skills quickly. I am wondering should I ask the school district to pay for tutoring in reading and writing, or should I push for the school district to pay for private speech and language therapy. He is falling further and further behind in school. He reads at the beginning 1st grade level, because of sight words he has memorized. He is in the 6th grade and working 5 years behind his peers. Any advice would be appreciated. Thank you. Lorraine
