Guest guest
Dear and everyone, I was also in last Sunday's chat. I apologize for having to cut out so abruptly. I like your ideas of trying to get more attention to this issue and like you have been trying to come up with ideas. Here is just a brainstorm of some ideas: ~ letter campaign to congresspeople that stresses the impact that this disease has on individuals and families, as well as the cost societally and to our public health system. This could be a form letter composed by this group that is individually adapted by each of us. For example, the top of the letter could give the details on the disease and the bottom (back of the page, whatever) would be a personal statement from each caregiver, MSA sufferer, family member. This way the impact of the personal is felt. ~ a concert to benefit movement disorders research that is put on by friends of ny Cash (like Willie who is always good for a good cause!) I know, this is way out there, but it sounds like fun! ~ a " race for the cure " type event to be held annually. Can start small and grow as people become aware of the extent of this disease. (How do movement disorders compare to breast cancer in terms of numbers afflicted?) It doesn't have to be a race. It could be a picnic, for example. Or a pledge drive. The money donated could be used to get this started with promotional materials. I know these ideas are big and probably out of our league at the moment, but maybe one of them will spark a more doable idea in someone else.
