That's what I found with my (mostly grown up and all dry and clean now!) kids: start at 2 and a quarter, it will take you many months; start at 3 it will take one day. Guest guest
Anneliese asked 'Someone asked me recently why we were all trained by 18 months and the norm today is more like 3 years.' If potty training is the *only* aim and issue then I guess there's no reason why we shouldn't insist on them being clean and dry as early as poss, and live with the accidents - but isn't there a whole barrage of research (theory?) about the psychological effects of potty training too early - linking in to the horrors of the Truby King regimes and the effects it had on a whole generation's emotional lives - . I go for Ruthie's comments a day or two ago - wait until they're 3 and do it in a day :-))) (sorry if age misquoted?! rather crucial omission if wrong) I waited for nearly 3 with mine and didn't have many accidents at all. I was lucky that it was summertime at the right time for both. So much easier to clean up solid mess off the grass than the carpet! No you didn't misquote the age; 3 was when my last few kids got trained, did it themselves, more or less on their birthday, or around it The earlier ones (born late sixties and seventies) I struggled for six months from age two and a half Ruthie
