Guest guest
Ummmm???? yes! We all lose differently and as long as you are losing inches you ARE losing........hey, I would stay the same weight forever if I kept losing the inches!!.........it averages a pound a week......sometimes you will go several weeks with nothing then drop 4-6 or whatever pounds, but make sure you measure! it will keep your drive going! _________________________________________________________________ Get your FREE download of MSN Explorer at http://explorer.msn.com
Guest guest
yes! you are being too impatient ;-) Not losing any weight for 4-5 days is NORMAL! Weight loss is never as fast as we think it should be. After the first bit of water weight loss on induction, most people lose at 1-2 pounds per week. But weight loss is rarely linear. As long as the overall trend on the scales is downwards and our bodies are shrinking, we are doing well :-) It would help if we knew how much you had to lose. If you want to post some menus, that might be helpful, but if you are in ketosis, then you probably aren't getting too many carbs. Keep the faith :-) Kirstie
Guest guest
ps - never judge your progress against Robin's induction losses - she is the induction weight loss queen! (although from Florida is vying for the title!). I would suspect that a loss of 4-10 pounds over the course of induction is far more typical. Guest guest
You have to think of it as a whole and not as a daily thing. 5 pounds in a weeks is great. Not everyone has huge induction losses, first time around I gained 3 pounds the first week and lost those 3 the second week. But I kept at it and little by little, pound by pound I lost 50 pounds in 6 months. If you look at it over several months time, the average seems to be about 1-2 pounds per week...which is a very healthy rate of weight loss. If you lose too fast, your body doesn't have time to catch up. I got done and had no flab anywhere, it was great. This time around I've lost about 6 pounds...those in the first couple of days (water) and here I sit...but I know it will go down again any time. It DOES work. Keep up the good work, think of it as a lifestyle, not a diet. If your plan is to lose the weight and then go back to 'regular' eating, you can expect your weight to come back...and quickly. I try to look at it this way...I plan to eat like this forever, so at some point all the weight will be off. You may be one of those people who loses in bunches. Several pounds, then a lull, then several pounds. Also, on Atkins you are building lean body mass...and if you're exercising you're also building muscle. These weigh more than fat, you may find the scale not moving, but your clothes getting looser since lean body mass takes up less room than fat even though it weighs more. Make sense? Is this normal? I know I need to be more patient, but I keep hearing all of your success stories about rapid weight loss. I think I may have lost some inches, though, around my waist, and my stomach doesn't stick out as far as it used to. I have been using the ketostix and am between 40%-80% according to the chart (40% is moderate; 80% is large as far as fat burn goes). I try to exercise daily (hubby and I ride bikes almost every night....I also do Tae Bo once in a while). Am I being too impatient, or what? Guest guest
Barb, Yes, you do need to be more patient. I only lost 4 pounds on induction. Not all of us are like Robin, in fact, most of us are not like Robin. That woman can lose on induction better than anyone I know. And she does it about 6 times a year. Now if we could just keep her low carbing in between those times. :-) Each person is different, but you will be rewarded if you stick with it. Guest guest
Yeah, but we have to remind everyone that six times a year, Robin is losing the SAME 15 pounds on induction. . . . so it's not really lost, it's just in exile. Maybe this time, Robin has actually sent it PERMANENTLY packing! Terry168/158.75/156 (minigoal)/ ? Guest guest
Yes, Barb, in answer to your final question, you are being too impatient. Relax, stick to the plan and you will lose. You didn't GAIN all the weight quickly, you won't lose it quickly either. It's best NOT to lose quickly - statistics seem to indicate that the more slowly you lose, the better your chances at keeping it off. If you're ketostix are showing ANY color (from pale pink to deep purple) you are IN ketosis. The coloris pretty irrelevant, just the fact that it does change colors is enough. Again, try to be patient. Few people experience the " rapid weight loss " you think is happening with " everyone " . -Marlena > >Reply-To: Atkins_Support_List >To: Atkins Support List <atkins_support_list > >Subject: Very Impatient >Date: Sun, 08 Jul 2001 14:17:15 -0400 > >I've been on this plan for a week now (Day #8). Guest guest
You'd be surprised how many people think that they can lose the weight quickly on this and then eat like they used to. Shows they didn't read the book I know I love the support here, and love it give it, when I'm on a roll I'm really pumped about this way of eating. Last time around the list got regaled with my shopping purchases, LOL. I try not to buy much until I really have to, so I'm not needing too many things in the intermittent sizes. Jumpers worked well for me, especially the kind that have ties in the back because I could cinch them in as I lost weight and still use them at goal weight. Went off on a tangent again, LOL, I'm really pumped right now so I post a lot! Sue 220/212/150 At 07:34 PM 7/8/01 -0400, you wrote: Thanks, Sue. That makes perfect sense. I'll try real hard to be patient, and yes, I know this is a way of life and not just a short-term deal. I'm in it for the long haul with the rest of you......; ) Glad to have the support. Thanks.
