Guest guest
Hanna, Before you start taking the dieuretics, please call your doctor. They should probably see you first. I know this isn't want you want to read during the week of Christmas but you are obviously retaining fluid and you need to make sure your kidneys are working properly or if this is being caused by something else. I don't think we should be trying to guess with this. Please let us know how you make out with this. Alice Subject: Rapid Weight Gain, need suggestions A few weeks ago I posted that I had gained over 8 pounds in one day. I thought it was due to my gastroparesis. Now I don't think so. Over the past few days I have started gaining weight rapidy again, going from around 110 pounds to around 122. I cannot wear anything besides sweats, and even those feel like they are cutting into me. I have swelling in my fingers and ankles, as there are really large indentations. My abdominal area is extremely distended. Hanna
Guest guest
Don't forget to lay off the sodium too, but table salt and what is in prepared foods. I agree that you need to see your doctor. Laureta Fitzgerald wrote: Hanna Please see your doctor. He doesn't need to know anything about mito to check into this as it may be caused by mito (or not), but treatment would probably be the same. Have you tried increasing your water? I know this sounds backwards, but I have been told by my mito docs and kidney doc that increasing water can help get rid of edema. It works for me. laurie Reply-To: Date: Sun, 21 Dec 2003 19:32:44 -0000 To: Subject: Rapid Weight Gain, need suggestions A few weeks ago I posted that I had gained over 8 pounds in one day. My abdominal area is extremely distended. I have some diuretics left over from last year when my ankles swelled after taking prednisone for a few weeks. I'm wondering if I should just start taking them again. I don't want to call my doc, as he'll probably just say it's an anxiety attack. I'm going back to the Cleveland Clinic in a few weeks so want to hold off til then. This rapid weight gain is so uncomfortable, especially around my abdominal area. Not sure if this is related, but, I'm really dizzy which is not usual for me. Also, I'm really itchy, especially my legs and arms. I haven't taken any new meds or eaten anything unusual. Hi, Did you mention a couple of weeks ago that you were taking Cipro? If so, maybe that has somehow effected your intestinal system. It may also have something to do with the heart or kidneys. In any event, a call to the doctor may be needed. B
