Guest guest
I am new to this list (and the NCT!) so thought I¹d better introduce myself - some people may recognise me from other lists though! My name is , I am 23 and live with my partner and my (soon to be) 13 month old daughter Tabby in London. I work as a health services researcher and have been back at work 3 days a week since Tabby was 3 months old. Before Tabby was born I did NCT antenatal classes which I thoroughly enjoyed. It has taken me until now to get round to joining the NCT - I suppose it is a bit odd to join one year post-birth?? Well I am sure it will come in useful for all the future babies I hope to have! I had planned a homebirth with Tabby but after a prolonged posterior labour I transferred to hospital for an epidural and some rest. However after pushing for a couple of hours she had not turned or descended at all and I had an caesarean I am still disappointed by this a year later. I am hoping to meet some other mums through my local branch (Haringey) and also plan to get involved with the NCT research networkers. I am particularly interested in doing research/work looking at promoting breastfeeding among young women and women who work outside the home. One of my proudest achievements is combining breastfeeding and paid work - we managed to avoid formula completely until she was nine months old and she is still a enthusiastic breastfeeder. Best wishes for 2001!
