Guest guest
Could you have an infection Lynda? I raised my Cynomel the other day too and my av. temps dropped. Val says this is normal when you are very close to your ideal amount of h.c. And that they should come up again in about three days. Also Val has said that she finds Cynomel a tad stronger the Cytomel, I think that is what she said, so that being the raise you will have inadvertently made a raise? Guest guest
I would be tempted too just hang on in there and see if things settle. Take something for the headache and the bloating if necessary. Yes you're right of course, an infection would show in your basal temp. Open all the windows! Guest guest
I've been on T3 only for about 4 weeks (150mcg). I was taking cytomel until Friday when I started taking cynomel. Since then I've had a constant headache and I feel hot, hot, hot but when I feel my skin it is cold and clammy. I am taking 32.5mg hc and prior to this my temps had stabilized at 97.3 On Friday average temps dropped to 97.1 Yesterday I was so hot I could not cope at all, I thought maybe I was overmedicated so took only 50mcg cynomel Today so far, first temp 96.5, second temp 96.3 I really don't know what to do now, seems obvious that my temp has dropped since I reduced T3 but why am I so hot? Last night I slept completely uncovered, in the middle of winter with no heating on and I was still hot when I woke up this morning Lynda
Guest guest
I did wonder about an infection but I have no other signs of one and also my temp would have gone up, wouldn't it? I do feel awful though, constant headache, light headed, can't remember words again - worse than ever, bloating. Actually, symptoms of hypo I suppose Yes if cynomel is stronger then it would have been a raise Lynda Re: feeling hot with low temp > Could you have an infection Lynda? > I raised my Cynomel the other day too and my av. temps dropped. Guest guest
Insteqd of dropping form 150mcg to 50mcg why not try a SMALL reduction. Like 125mcg.? -- Artistic Grooming- Hurricane WV http://www.stopthethyroidmadness.com/ http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/NaturalThyroidHormonesADRENALS/
Guest guest
Because I was so desperate to stop feeling hot, yesterday was so bad I was almost passing out. Yesterday I took my first two doses of 25mcg and each time I felt hotter almost as soon as I had taken it so I decided to not take any the rest of the day. This morning my basal was 96.5, three hours later it was 96.3 I then had a glass of salt water and almost miraculously I cooled down. So far today I have taken 75mcg and will take the next 2 doses making 125mcg in total. Incidentally, next 2 temps have been 97.8 both times. I had another glass of salt water this afternoon and I'm warm but not hot. Phew! Guest guest
What does, the salt water? No I haven't been tested, I'm sure you remember Mo's story of trying to convince her doc to test. Mine would be the same, damned NHS!! Anyone know a private facility in the UK that tests aldosterone? Guest guest
Val, is it called aldosterone on the lab report or something else? I had loads of blood tests done while I was in New Zealand but I don't know if that was one of them. I presume it is a blood test. And if it did turn out to be an aldosterone problem what's the remedy? questions, questions..... Guest guest
Yes just called Aldosterone and it would be corrected with Florinef. -- Artistic Grooming- Hurricane WV http://www.stopthethyroidmadness.com/ http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/NaturalThyroidHormonesADRENALS/
Guest guest
Just a reminder..the aldosterone test: when they draw blood the client is supposed to be standing or lying for a certain amount of time...but NOT sitting. Taught my local lab about that...lol What's your serum sodium levels? Guest guest
sodium 141 (135 - 145) potassium 4.5 (3.5 - 5.3) Lynda Re: feeling hot with low temp > Just a reminder..the aldosterone test: > > when they draw blood the client is supposed to be standing > or lying for a certain amount of time...but NOT sitting. > > Taught my local lab about that...lol > > What's your serum sodium levels? > > Michigan >
Guest guest
The sea salt is definitely working. I had two glasses yesterday, am and pm, and my last two temps of the day were 97.7 each. This morning I had another glass and my first temp was 97.7 - up from 96.3 yesterday. I'm not feeling at all hot, warm but not hot. I just had bloodwork today for Aldosterone and Renin. They just drew blood like it was for a cbc. Thanks, English
Guest guest
Can someone explain aldosterone for me better??? What is it suppose to do, what are the symptoms if it is not behaving right and why does it make a difference if you are standing or sitting when they draw your blood?? Also what is Renin??? Also my CO2 always comes back high when I have my blood test done, the only info I could find on that referenced cushings and aldosterone. But of course when I asked the Endro about the constant high CO2 he brushed it aside. My temps still always seem to run low,(just took it is 98.0) but I keep having bouts of being hot and just dripping wet - the Endro said my T3 was way too high and that was making me so hot- as in 1024 with norm 200 - 400. so I am on Armour only and no more cytomel. I am not as hot now as I was when taking cytomel..but these hot bouts, maybe they are hot flashes?? Are just terrible - I never had them like this when I was going thru menopause, but then again I was taking HRT. He also said my estrogen number was too high at in 69 and said I needed to take more estrogen so that the pituitary would stop thinking I needed more..don't have what the norm is on that test. Guest guest
aldosterone regulates sodium and potassium. when aldosterone is low, I believe one is in sort of a chronic state of dehydration. Salt helps with this as it helps to retain fluids. blood pressure will usually be too low as well. Conventional treatment is with adding the hormone Florinef to your regimen; some people tolerate it okay and some don't. I couldn't tolerate it so I substitute the natural way with Licorice root. Guest guest
Is Florinef a cortisol replacement??? Like cortef?? I am always thirsty, and I do take sea salt and Vit C. my blood pressure last week at the Endro's was 118 over 68....and that was after he kept me waiting an hour..it is much lower at home with my machine - often below 100 over 60. Aldosterone is the hormone that controls how much sodium your body retains or loses nd thu the electrolyte balance in the body is largely controlled by this. -- Artistic Grooming- Hurricane WV http://www.stopthethyroidmadness.com/ http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/NaturalThyroidHormonesADRENALS/
